Top 10 Mangas

1. Fruits Basket: This series is my favorite series of anything that has ever been written and I honestly believe that no other series will ever be as perfectly written as this one was. Fruits Basket is a series that just has so many great characters and relationships and pretty much the entire series is about how those characters and relationships develop over the course of the series. I love that this series is one that starts out light but then gets darker later on but the story ends on happy and hopeful note for the characters. This series is great if you haven't read it you should because it's a wonderful story that will teach you to be a better person.
2. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: This series is one that has the main characters traveling through dimensions which is a concept one does not see often which makes the series stand out from the beginning. This series is one that has great characters that I can't help but to love and really great romance that almost broke the space time continuum so that right there shows you how powerful their love for one another is. The series also has great art since it was created by Clamp.
3. Cardcaptor Sakura: This is another great series by Clamp and this one is about a ten year old girl who has to capture these Clow cards in order to keep her town safe. This series is really sweet and fluffy and at it's core Cardcaptor Sakura is a story about love in all its forms and it's just a series that always makes me happy.
4. Tokyo Babylon: This series is also by Clamp but unlike Cardcaptor Sakura this story is not a happy Story in fact it's a tragic story. This series has young man that has magic powers and uses them to help people who he believes are generally good and kind at heart and through his job he sees what people do at their most cruel and selfish points which starts to chip away at his optimistic outlook on life but nothing hurts him quite as much as falling in love, it doesn't end well.
5. Gakuen Alice: This series is a story about a young girl who runs away and joins her friend at boarding school for gift children and while the story starts off fairly lighthearted things getting darker as the series goes on and more about the school is revealed.
6. Chibi Vampire: This series is a coming of age story for a young girl who is a vampire who is a reverse of what a vampire should be in that she produces too much blood rather than needing to drink blood. The series is delightful and quite a fun read with likable characters and interesting mythology.
7. Shugo Chara: This series is a magical girl series which is my favorite sub-genre of manga/anime and this series deals with a girl who puts on a false cool girl image but is forced to confront her other would be selves by her guardian characters who help her save other kids around age from loosing their dreams, the premise of the series doesn't make a whole lot of sense out of context but  I assure you this series is great.
8. Rosario + Vampire: This series is about an extremely average boy that accidently gets sent to a school for monsters and ends up unwittingly winning the hearts of quite a few of his female classmates by simply being nice to them. This series can be a bit out there but it's great fun to read.
9. Pandora Hearts: This series is a very different take on Alice in Wonderland that deals with a young boy being taken to a sort of underworld only to be saved from that world by making a deal with Alice who is someone who lives in that underworld. This series is a bit hard to sum up but the story and it's characters are really great.
10. Magic Knight Rayearth: This series is a magical girl series about three girls who get transported to another world to save it's ruler and become great friends with each other through out the series. This series has great art, good characters, an interesting plot and killer twist at the end of it's first series.

Top 10 Books set in Schools

1. Gallagher Girls: I love this fun action series that is set in a boarding school for teenage girl who are training to be spies. I feel that the school makes the books what they are with there assignments being used to further their own off the books investigations and the spy training is something that is very much ingrained in all of the main characters. I love all the books of this series I have read so far it's a series that can be a lot of fun but there are also shocking plot twists and real danger in the series as well.
2. Rosario+ Vampire: This is a series that I love a lot about an extremely average human boy who accidently finds himself going to a school for monsters. This series is one that starts off pretty humorous but as the series goes on it's clear that the series has a lot of heart and it also takes several dark turns at times as well.
3. Looking for Alaska: This is a lovely coming of age story about a boy named Pudge coming out of his shell a bit and making some friends that change his perspective on life. This book also deals with loss quite brilliantly and I really love the way that it is written and I really love the messages that come from this book in the end.
4. Secret Circle: This is a story about witches and high school basically and I really love that this series mixes the mean girls of high school with the fantastical element of magic. I love that magic in this series is used for petty things because that's the type of stuff real teenagers would do if they had magic. There's also some intriguing darker plots that develop as the series goes on that I enjoyed as well.
5. Gakuen Alice: This series is about a boarding school for people who have special abilities called Alices. This series actually has a good plot that can get surprisingly dark considering how old the main characters are. I really love the characters and the relationships in this series as well.
6. Shugo Chara: This series is a magical girl series that is set in high school and is about finding your true self. I love the magical girl genre in general and I especially love the characters in this one.
7. Hex Hall: This is a series about a boarding school for faries, shape shifters and witches, the series is great fun but it's also has a really intriguing plot as well and has more twists to the story then I was expecting. I also really love the friendship between Sophie and Jenna a whole lot.
8. The Lying Game: This is a series that is about an incredible cruel clique and a girl who is impersonating her dead twin while she tries to figure out who murdered her because her twin has a lot of enemies this makes the task very difficult.
9. Fruits Basket: This is my favorite series of all time and there's quite a bit of time spent in school in the series but a lot of time is spent in other places as well which is why the series is so low.
10. Cardcaptor Sakura: This is my favorite magical girl series lots of time spent in school but also other places but it's a great series either way.

Manga Review: Shugo Chara Vol.1

Shugo Chara is a series about an elementary school girl named Amu Hinamori who has the reputation of being cool and spicy which makes other people think their not cool enough to hang out with her but in actuality Amu doesn't know what to say in social situation and comes off as aloof rather than nervous and what she really wants is to just be normal, have friends and by her true self. One night at dinner there's a show with a psychic women who mentions guardian characters so that night Amu wishes for the courage to be her true self and the next morning she wakes up to find three eggs in her bed.

That day at school the guardians of the school are talked about for the first time and it's revealed that Tadase the king chair who everyone thinks of as a prince is the guy that almost all the girls have a crush on as does Amu but she acts rather coldly to him when he approaches her that day. At a school assembly that day Amu is regretting treating Tadase coldly and wishes she had the courage to be honest and then she suddenly doesn't have control over herself and she announces that she likes him and he tells her he likes someone else.

Amu feeling extremely embarrassed by her behavior and Tadase's rejection rushes out of the school and ends up falling into a hole at a construction site. Amu discovers that her fall was broken by an older boy named Ikuto who had been taking a nap in the hole which Amu finds really weird and she finds it even more weird that he knows about her eggs and that he tries to take them by searching her body which she doesn't like at all. When the hole is almost covered by rocks Amu's first guardian character Ran is born and she uses a character change on Amu that allows her to fly which freaks Amu out. After Ikuto tries to get Amu's other eggs, Amu falls but is caught by Tadase and after a brief fight with Ikuto vanishes and Tadase says that Amu should come to a guardian meeting to learn about her guardian character.

Ran ends up teasing Amu about her crush on Tadase and Amu learns that Ran is the reason why she confessed her feelings to Tadase which makes her mad at Ran. Ran explains that a guardian character is a person's would be self. The next day in school Amu's afraid that the rest of the students would dislike her for not living up to cool character but she is actually pleasantly surprised to learn that her confessing feelings to Tadase actually made her more approachable and she makes friends with some girls in her class. Amu's second guardian character Miki is born who is good at art(Ran's good a sports) and she tells Amu that she has to believe in her guardian characters.

Amu learns a bit more about guardian characters at her meeting with the guardians and she learns that all the members of the guardians have their own guardian characters. Amu rejects joining the guardians because she wants to be normal but Nadeshiko tries to trick Amu into joining the guardians by helping her with her crush on Tadase although she still helps Amu out even when Amu still refuses to join. Nadeshiko works with Amu make a tart for Tadase's birthday but when Nadeshiko is out of the room Ikuto comes and tries to steal Amu's last a egg she stops him but the two of them end up in a rather intimate position and she asks him why he wants her eggs and what the embryo is before he can answer Nadeshiko comes back does a character change that makes her go a bit crazy with a knife like item and Ikuto dodges her attacks. Amu last guardian character Suu a ditzy cooking and cleaning expert in born and she makes matters worse by filling the room with batter.

During the fight the tart Amu made was broken which saddens her but she ends up making cookies for Tadase instead. When giving the cookies to Tadase Amu accidently agrees to join the guardians. Amu learns that Tadase's goal is world domination which freaks her out and she asks why the other guardians support this goal which they say they do it because it's fun.

Amu sees Utau a girl she saw with Ikuto is an idol singer and after a bath while on her balcony she wonders if she's Ikuto's girlfriend Ikuto who appeared out of nowhere tells her she's not. Amu is confused by Ikuto's appearance and asks why he's there then he gives a bag of snacks to make up for the broken tart and she realizes that he's trying to say sorry. Ikuto warns her about Easter setting things into motion and that they'll be enemies as long as she's helping Tadase.

Amu learns that it's her duty to stop x eggs which are eggs of a young persons heart that has gone bad and at the end of the volume she sees her first one. I overall really like this volume a lot happens, I really enjoy the characters and the art is nice. Please tell me your thoughts on this series.

Top 10 Beach Reads

Since this was also a Top 10 Tuesday list last year that I did I decided to make sure that I didn't put any of the books I put on the list last year so most of this books won't really be what I think of as beach reads(especially since when I go to the beach I spend the day swimming not reading so I'm not really sure what a beach book is)
1. Hex Hall: I think this book would be a good beach read because the story of the first book at least has an overall humorous tone and while thinks do get dark at times through out the book it never gets too dark. Plus there's witchcraft and the amazingly cute friendship between Sophie and Jenna(the witch who knows nothing of the supernatural and the vampire who love all things pink) which is my favorite thing in the book.
2. Heroes of Olympus: I think this series fits because it's an action adventure series that has quite a lot of comic moments also there's great characters and mythology through out the books. There are times when things don't look like they aren't going to work out but so far things haven't become too dark or sad yet.
3. Cardcaptor Sakura: This is the series that makes me happiest because the story is by far the sweetest one I've ever read and I love everything about the series the characters, the relationships, the plot and the themes. This series is adorable and I never get tried of it and the artwork is gorgeous as well, also I've been in a bit of a Clamp mood the last couple of days so I'm putting a lot of Clamp on this list but I feel this series best fits my idea of a beach read.
4. Beauty Pop: This is a series that I think fits being a beach read because it's one that makes me laugh and I don't take it too seriously but I still love the series. This series is about people who are over the top serious about hair cutting and most of these people are boys which makes it even more hilarious.
5. Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass: This book is one of my favorites because it's about a world of nonsense and I think that it'd be a good book to loose yourself in while your down at the beach.
6. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: I'm honestly putting this on the list mostly because I'm in a Tsubasa mood at the moment and I really want to reread the series but I do actually believe the first half of the series would be a good beach read. The first half of the series is relatively light hearted and there's plenty of adventures and general silliness as well as the start of our group of travelers eventually becoming like a family which is one of my favorite things about the series. Then of course my favorite thing in the series is probably that in the first half of the series we get plenty of sweet/cute moments between Syaoran and Sakura which I always adore. I'm going to spam a few pictures of these two because I love them, they're cute and I need more pictures of them on my blog.
 
 

7. Shugo Chara: This is a lovely magical girl series that deals with self discovering and is super cute and I love the characters and the plot as well and I think it's a nice light read that would be good for the beach.
8. Magic Knight Rayearth: This is a series that I think would be a great beach read because it's full of action and adventure as well as a great three girl friendship that is incredibly sweet. Also it's another magical girl series and I'm a big fan of those. The end of the first half the series is pretty sad though so be sure to read the second half of the series if you want a happy ending.
9. Kobato: This another series by Clamp which means it has gorgeous artwork also I love the kindhearted but somewhat clueless heroine and I love seeing her try her best to do good deeds. It's a sweet fun series that I think would be a good beach read.
10. Wolves of Mercy Falls series: This series I think would be a good beach read due to it's description of the temperatures because it always manages to make me feel a bit of a chill. Although I wouldn't exactly call the series light because of Sam's past and well Cole in general and Isabel is pretty messed up in Linger as well and the whole being a wolf thing doesn't sound all that great either so it has quite a few darker elements in my opinion which makes me love the series even more but if your goal is to read a happy book it wouldn't be my first choice.

Top 10 animated guys I find attractive

This list is in response to Aimee's at penmanship Smitten's list of Top 10 attractive animated guys. I would also like to mention that I only included two non-anime guys because I felt that it wasn't fair to have the whole list be made up of anime guys.

10. Prince Phillip(Sleeping Beauty): I find Prince Phillip attractive because he's actually has to do something in order to win his princess. I liked that he fought the dragon and I loved that he refused to marry any reason other than love after meeting Aurora. I also just find his character design to be attractive and matches my idea of what a prince looks like.

9. Danny Fenton(Danny Phantom): I haven't watch this show in years but I remembered that I also liked Danny as a character, because he was a bit of an outcast, was prone to be sarcastic and he had to deal with whole becoming a ghost every once in awhile. I also like his character design also I'm I prefer his human form to his ghost form even though they're really similar.

8. Miharu Rokujou(Nabari No Ou): I love Miharu because of his desire to remain apathetic even after he finds out that he's basically the chosen one of the ninja world. I love that instead of trying to fulfill this role he instead tries to continue going on with life as if nothing had change. I also love how he manipulates people by either by appearing weak or smiling a super bright fake smile, I also love that this technique seems to work everyone. Another thing I like about Miharu is his close and weirdly caring relationship he develops with Yotie over the course of the series, I love this relationship because Yotie is one of the few things that Miharu can't feel apathetic about. I also just like his character design in general.

7. Nova(Arcana Famiglia):I love Nova because he has this serious and business-like way of caring himself all the time even though he's still quite young which is something I always seem to like in a character. I also like that despite his usually stoic attitude that there are still times when he gets embarrassed and blushes. I also really like that he has blue hair.

6. Ikuto Tsukiyomi(Shugo Chara): I love Ikuto for being a sort of bad boy but not really because he's generally a good person and even he's technically work for the bad guys of the series it's clear that he's not really on that side also I love how  he neglects his job all the time as well. I also love his more playful side in which he blatantly flirts with Amu despite their age difference. I love that he plays the violin as well and I find his character design to be very good looking as well.

5. Oz Vessalius(Pandora Hearts): I find Oz to be a very interesting character because even though he has been through a lot of terrible things in his life he refuses to stop smiling. I also love that it's implied that his smiles are mostly fake because I feel that makes his character more interesting. I also like that he's alot smarter than people think he is and I love that he's protective of Alice as well even though that can cause him to be a bit scary at times. I also really like how he looks as well even though I think he looks a bit younger than 15.

4.Suzaku Kururugi(Code Geass): I love Suzaku because he wants make sure that no one else is harmed but at the same time he's hoping that someone will just kill him which just makes me feel sad for his character. I don't exactly know exactly how to explain my love for Suzaku but I've always loved him and I thought he had a good heart and did what he believed was right. I also love his character design which looks extremely similar to Tsubasa Syaoran's, except with green eyes instead of brown, I like the similarity in the looks because I love both characters.

3. Subaru Sumeragi(X TV series): I love Subaru because he's one of the kindest and saddest characters I've ever encountered. I love and feel bad for him because of how cruelly life has treated him and I love him for still helping people. I love that he'll fight to try the save the world even though he has lost all desire to continue living in it. I also love his character design because it's very pretty and I feel I should mention that I loved him in Tokyo Babylon as well but I didn't think the anime version looked very good so that's why it only says X.

2. Syaoran(Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle): First off I feel I should mention that I'm basing most of what I know about Syaoran from the manga because I didn't really like the anime series but I felt the OVAs were good so I decided it would be okay to include Syaoran on this list. I love pretty much everything about Syaoran. I love the way he loves Sakura, I love how determined he is, I love that he sometimes get all shy and embarrassed around Sakura and I love that there are times when he geeks out about the history of country their visiting. I love and worry about him because he tends to keep his problems to himself even when he probably shouldn't be.  I also love that he actually knows quite a few languages and that he has a tendency to be overly polite. I also love the way he looks as well but I think the reason I think he's so attractive has more to do with his personality than his looks.

1. Lelouch Vi Britannia/Lamperouge(Code Geass): I love Lelouch because he's very smart and knows that in order to defeat an empire as large as Brittannia one has to be ruthless. I love that although Lelouch knows he has to be ruthless to his enemies he still has many people he's unwilling to sacrifice in order to achieve his goals. I also find Lelouch to be the best looking animated boy I have ever scene which is why he tops the list although he is also a brilliant character even without factoring in his looks.

Top 10 books for people who like X author

For People who like Ally Carter's series Gallagher Girls and Heist Society:
1. Magic Knight Rayearth: I would say it's similar to the Gallagher Girls series because it's about a group of girls who have vastly different personalities but are still close friends who considers each other to be sisters and work well together. The girls in both series are also pretty good at fighting their enemies.
2. Kami Kaze Katiuo Jeane: It's similar to Heist Society because it's about a young girl that steals priceless art in order to help people although the reasons in the two series are very different.
3. Shugo Chara: It's similar to Ally Carter's series because it has a strong female lead who forms close and important friendships and has just enough swoon worthy romance.
4. Sailor Moon:Another series about a group of girls that are good friends and are capable of fighting evil.
5. Percy Jackson and the Olympians/Heroes of Olympus: I find that these series are similar to Ally Carters because friendship is an important part of the series.
6. Secret Circle: Has lots to do with friendships.
7. Rosario+ Vampire: It's set at a bordering school, the girls can kick some ass and friendship is an important part of the series.
For people who like The Hunger Games:
1. Battle Royale: Has a similar idea with having a bunch of kids kill each other on tv except this time they all actually no each other.
2. Uglies: Is another teen dystopian with a corrupt government that likes to control it's people.
3. 1984: A classic dystopian that tries to make thinking differently a crime.

My Top 10 Book Heroines

1. Tohru Honda(Fruits Basket):Tohru is pretty different from any of the other characters on this list because she doesn't really have any special talents other than being extremely nice and she doesn't really set out to defeat enemies. Tohru is able to save pretty much everyone including the main villain just by being kind and accepting them for who they are flaws and all. The reason I think that her character can work as a hero in this series(because in most series she wouldn't be very heroic) is because most of the characters problems are psychological and all the other characters really needed was for someone else to tell them that it was okay to be who they are, that's exactly what Tohru does for them.
2. Sakura Kinomoto(Cardcaptor Sakura): Sakura is another character that is able to win people over with kindness but unlike Tohru it isn't her only skill. Sakura is also very skilled in magic and she can be suprisely resourceful with how well she is able to use it. She also doesn't give up when she is faced with a challenge.
3. Daenerys Targaryen(A Song of Ice and Fire series): I technically only read the first book and watched the first 19 episodes of the tv series but I don't see my love for Daenerys changing anytime soon so I thought it was okay to include her. I love Daenerys because of how she goes from this timid girl to a powerful warrior queen throughout the first book. I also love how fierce she became but even through that it's still very clear that she cares for her people just that now she'll make sure their enemies will suffer. I also loved that she was able to walk through fire and not get burned.
4. Sakura Hime(The Legend of Princess Sakura):She's a rebellious princess who has to find demons now and so far she seems to be pretty good at defeating them with her sword. She's also pretty brave and believes in protecting Innocent people even when it's likely to get her hurt.
5. Amu Hinamori(Shugo Chara): I just find her relatable since she doesn't really know who she is or what she wants out of life but she also has quite a bit of magical powers and a firm sense of what's right and what's wrong.
6. Katarina Bishop(Heist Society series): She's really smart with her being able to pull off quite a few heists even though she isn't even old enough to graduate high school and she also has good morals now because she refuses to steal from anyone who hasn't already stolen from someone else first. I also love how she acts in her scenes with Arturo Taccone because in those parts she's so witty and brave.
7. Chloe Saunders(The Darkest Powers series): I love that she compares everything to a movie and that once she discovers that she's a necromancer that she keeps trying to figure out how her powers work and that she's trying to figure out how to take down the Edison group.
8. Alyss Heart(The Looking Glass Wars series):Over the two books of the series I read she already had to win back her throne once and in the second book there's yet another war she has to try to win, so I think it's save to say she's a bit of a war queen.
9. Katniss Everdeen(The Hunger Games):I feel like now a days you couldn't make this list without mentions Katniss who is brave and has great bow and arrow skills.
10. Tally Youngblood(Uglies series): She has pretty much led revolutions and all though she does seem to suffer from chronic backstabbing syndrome she has made the world she lives in a better place.

Top 10 Books I read in a day

I don't read novels in a day because when I read a book and I really really love it I try to make it last as long as possible so this list will consist entirely of manga since I almost always finish them the same day I start them.

1. Fruits Basket Volume 11: This is my favorite volume of the series although I love them all I feel that it's turning point as well as the half way point of the series. There's a good amount of character, relationship and plot development that happens in this volume. This is also the volume that makes me fear Akito the most out of pretty much all villains because this volume shows that Akito isn't the type of villain that will kill you but the type that makes you wish you were dead. While these volume did have dark moments it also had fun light happy ones and sweet romantic ones as well.

2. Fruits Basket Volume 10: My second favorite volume of the series it's mostly a light fun volume about our main characters having fun at the beach house but there's relationship and character development. Also the mood takes a dark turn once Akito shows up.

3. Fruits Basket Volume 15: This is one of the saddest and funniest volumes of the whole series. It's one of the saddest due to having Yuki's back story about his depressing childhood but it's one of the funniest because of the play Sorta Cinderella, the best version of Cinderella I've ever read/seen although really inaccurate.

4. Fruits Basket Volume 14:This volume gives us Rin's back story therefore making her one of my favorite characters of the series and her mental breakdown which also leads to her and Tohru developing an odd friendship. I also like the chapters dealing with the student council since I always find them entertaining. I also liked how Tohru's character was fleshed out a bit more in this volume.

5. Songs to Make You Smile: The first book on this list that's not Fruits Basket(I probably could have had this whole list be Fruits Basket but I decided to limit myself to 4) but it's buy the same person. This is a collection of short stories that are wonderful and sweet.

6. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Volume 5: This volume finished off the arc that was set in Spirit which seemed like an old fashioned English town and I really liked the arc. It also started the Oto arc which is one of my favorites it's set in a world that has cos play and there are these creatures called oni and Fai, Sakura and Mokona run a cafe. I also love this volume because Sakura almost remembers she knew Syaoran before she lost her memories but of course fate doesn't allow her to remember.

7. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Volume 6: This volume continues the Oto arc and it's just as good if not better than the last volume. This volume includes some insights into Fai's character, insights into Syaoran's past, further development of relationship, the great party were everyone gets drunk expect for Kurogane  and Seishiro appears which always makes me happy even though it's usually not a good thing for our heroes.

8. Higurashi When They Cry: Abducted by Demons Volume 2: This volume deals with Kechi's increasing paranoia and his eventual mental breakdown that ends in death as per usual in Higurashi. I love the way this volume handles his psychological state because it makes the reader see were he's coming from and it's just done really well it's even better than it's done in the anime.

9. Shugo Chara Volume 6: A lot of things happen in this volume with both Kari and Utau changing sides in this volume, I especially liked Utau's breakdown and her rediscovering why she wants to be a singer. I also just love this series in general.

10. Clover: This actually includes all four volumes, I just find this story to be so different and interesting.
