TV Review: Reply 1997

                                                          Reply 1997 Review
Reply 1997 is about a group of teenagers growing up in 1997 and the characters are looking back on their high school years while they are at a high school reunion. The series centers around Sung Shi won who was a stalker fangirl for this Kpop group called HOT and she is so obsessively devoted to the group that most everything she does have to do with her love for the group. Shi won's childhood friend Yoon Yoon-je who is in love with her despite the two of them having very different personality with him being one of the top students in his class while Shi won is one of the worst in her class and he's quiet while Shi won is loud but the two are still close friends because they've known each other since forever.

For the most part the series is just about the characters growing up in the late 90's so there isn't much of a plot other than the characters growing up, Shi won's obsession with HOT and the characters relationships with each other and for the most part this series is able to be entertaining even with the simplicity of the plot. Some of my favorite other plots in this series is the plot about how Kang Joon hee who is a male classmate and friend who has a crush on Yoon je which he is very aware of the fact that his feelings are one side and not really that accepted so he keeps it quiet. Another a relationship I liked in the show was the relationship between Shi won's closest girl friend and fellow obsessive fangirl Mo Yoo jung and Do Hak chan a new transfer student that is seen as cool by the guys but is completely unable to talk to girls, the two of them get together fairly early in the series and while they break up and get together quite often and I really ended up liking the two of them together.

Overall I thought that this series was pretty good I liked the characters and I liked seeing them and their relationships develop over time. One thing I didn't like about this series is that the series tried to act like it was a mystery of who Shi won would end up with when it was pretty obvious to me who she was going to end up with from the start and I also thought that the guy who ended up being the second male lead feelings for her came from out of nowhere half through the series because as shocked as Yoon je was to learn that the other guy had feelings for Shi won. Please tell me your thoughts on this series in the comment section below.
