Top 10 Books I Read in 2017
1. All the Bright Places: This book is one that I thought had a really good writing style and I found myself completely invested in the lives of the two main characters which led me to feel like I just had to know what happens next. I also thought that this book did a good job of dealing with the issues of grief and mental illness without feeling too dark. Overall I just found that this book did a good job of gripping me through out it's story.
2. Cress: This book is the third book of The Lunar Chronicles series and I liked that this book continued the story for all the main characters that we met in previous books but also introduced us to Cress and gave Thorne a lot more focused and development. I liked that there was quite a bit going on in this book but still plenty of time for character and relationship development as well. One of my favorite things about this book was the relationship between Cress and Thorne which is probably my favorite relationship in the series and I really loved seeing their bond develop in this book.
3. Winter: This is the final book in the series and while I did love how so much happened in this book and so many characters stories were covered in this book there were times when I was a little overwhelmed by everything that was happening in this book since this book was by far the most eventful book of this already extremely eventful series. I really love the characters of Winter and I really liked that through her we saw the way the Lunars lived very different because she comes from a very different way of life than all the other characters. I also liked that Cinder and Kai are finally able to share scenes together again in this book since they really haven't been able to since the first book so that was something I really loved about this book.
4. Blue Lilly, Lilly Blue: I really just love the world and the characters that this series has in it so any time that I get to spend in the world and with the characters is something I enjoy reading about. I really like the way that Blue and Gansey's relationship is developing because you can tell how much they are growing to like each other but are still trying not to act on those feelings.
5. Highly Illogical Behavior: I really loved the writing style for this book that made this book a really quick read for me and I like that the plot dealt with a boy that doesn't leave his house because of social anxiety and a girl who wants to cure him so that she could get a scholarship for a good psychology program and I like that there wasn't a love story between them as well.
6. House of Hades: This book is the fourth book in the Heroes of Olympus series and I found this book to be a lot of fun and I feel like we learned new things about the characters and that we got to see new relationships develop and old ones strength in this book.
7. School Spirits: This book is a companion novel to the Hex Hall series and I like that this book deals with a girl who hunts supernatural beings rather than be one because it gives a new perspective to this world and I thought that the characters and writing in this book were good as well.
8. Rumble: This is the book that I'm currently reading and so far it's a really good read, it has Ellen Hopkins fantastic writing and it is dealing with a boy coming to terms with his brother's suicide and has quite a bit to say on religion as well.
9. United We Spy: This book is the final book in the Gallagher Girls series and I thought it was a fitting end of the series in that it dealt with an important spy mission but also Cammie not knowing what she wants to do with her life after graduating, I liked how the series ended with both the spy stuff and the relatable teen stuff because these two things coming together is what made the series what it was.
10. All Fall Down: This book is the first book in the Embassy Row series and I think that this book was a good introduction to the world and characters that this series will focus on and I think that this book did a good job telling it's story but also leaving room open for the next book in the series.

Book Review:The Lunar Chronicles: Winter
The Lunar Chronicles: Winter Review
This book is the final book of The Lunar Chronicles series and it deals with Cinder finally making a direct move against Levana by moving the fight away from Earth and onto Luna. Cinder plans to convince the people in Luna's outer sectors to help her stage an upraising against Levana which while that part of her plan actually goes fairly well not a whole lot else in her plan goes well with her ending up captured at times and her allies ending up captured as well and the whole upraising taking a few days longer than originally planned.
In this book I feel that all of the main characters have a role to play and different section in the novel where they are allowed to play that role. In this book Kai is finally fully aware of who Cinder is so he actually gets to be involved with her planning and for his part he is basically still having to marry Levana but at least now he's doing that to distract Levana from Cinder's real plan rather than resigning himself to a marriage that is basically a death sentence. In this book we get to see more of Cress and Thorne's relationship develop with them both admitting how they feel about each other while also playing key roles in helping Cinder succeed. With Wolf we get to actually meet his mother and learn a bit more about his life before he was one of Levana's genetically engineer soldiers. Scarlet spends her time working with Princess Winter in escaping from Levana and later recruiting an army.
This book also of course has a major focus on Princess Winter the step daughter of Levana who is a Lunar who refuses to use her gift to manipulate people and has been driven insane because of it but because she is so kind and beautiful the people adore which of course makes Levana think of her as a threat to her throne. Winter is a characters that I found myself loving since she was first introduced last book so I wasn't surprised that I just ended up loving her more as I got to know her more but what did surprise me was that this book made me like Jacin the Lunar guard that we met last book that is in love with Winter. Jacin is given more depth in this book and since he is given point of view we can understand his actions which makes them easier to support and his relationship with Winter is a really sweet one.
Overall I loved this book, it was a great end to a great series. There was so many things that happened in this book and so many characters and relationships that were explored in this book and I feel like I got a good amount of all of them which is something that couldn't have been easy to write but was really great to read so the authors hard work paid off in the end. Book Review: The Lunar Chronicles: Cress
Cress Review
Cress is the third book of The Lunar Chronicles series and it's introduces us to our new heroine who is named Cress. Cress is a young Lunar woman who has been kept in satellite for years both because she's a shell(someone whom other Lunars can't manipulate) and she's an excellent hacker who Queen Levana's right hand woman has forced to hack into all sorts of earthen databases and she is tasked with locating Cinder. Since Cress doesn't agree with Levana or what she's doing to earth she doesn't tell anyone when she locates Cinder's ship but instead she contacts Cinder and her crew and pretty much asked them to rescue her and they agree since she's the reason no one has found their ship yet.
The rescue mission ends up going very wrong when one of Cress's capturers finds out about it and uses it to set a trap for Cinder. The botched rescue mission leaves the group split up with Cinder, Wolf and Iko still together but with Wolf badly injured, Scarlet captured by the Lunars and Cress and Thorne almost being killed as the crash land in the middle of the desert. The book primarily deals with the group being a part with each other with Cinder thinking that Thorne and Cress are dead and that she has no idea how to save Scarlet or what her next move in general should be other than being determined to stop the wedding between Kai and Levana. Cress and Thorne do their best to survive in the desert which is made even more difficult then it would have been since Thorne is now blind since he banged his head in their crash landing to earth and Cress has never been to earth before so she may not be the best guide but the two of them make it work and look out for each other the best they can. Scarlet who see on Lunar a couple more times but not much of anything is really resolved in her storyline but we do get our first look at the Lunar princess Winter who is the lead of the next book.
The relationship between Cress and Thorne is one that a really liked with Cress being so sweet and innocence and Thorne being the somewhat self center but ultimate lovable and charming criminal that won us over last book, I just enjoy the way they contrast with each other and the different sides they bring out in each other. Cress makes Thorne more caring and selfless although I don't think he realizes it yet and Thorne makes Cress braver with how he encourages her when she's overwhelmed by new situations or discouraged by seemingly hopeless ones.
This book was great it had a great set of characters to follow and the story that was told was very interesting and I felt that so much happened in such a short amount of time which made this an exciting read. Overall I loved this book and I can't wait to read the next one. Please tell me your thoughts on this book.

Book Review: The Lunar Chronicles: Scarlet
Scarlet Review
Scarlet is the second book of The Lunar Chronicles series and it not only continues with Cinder's story but it also introduces us to Scarlet and tells her story as well. Scarlet's story is based off of Little Red Riding Hood and I think that her story was a really interesting take on that. Scarlet Benoit is a farmer from Rieux, France who's grandmother has went missing but no one will believe that foul play was involved in her grandmother's disappearance so Scarlett vows to stop at nothing to rescue her grandmother. Scarlett soon finds out that her grandmother was taken by a group known as the order of the pack who are a group of genetically engineered Lunars who are made to be similar to wolves. Scarlett with the help of Wolf a former member of the pack travel to Paris to find the pack's headquarters in hopes to get Scarlett's grandmother back.
Meanwhile Cinder makes her escape from jail and she is joined by Captain Thorne who's jail cell she landed in during her escape so she has little choice but to bring him along with her which turned out to be a good thing since because of his past as a smuggler he had a stolen ship that they could use for their get away. On their escape Cinder has had to use her Lunar powers which she doesn't really understand how to use or feel completely comfortable about using them as well as come to terms with the fact that she is in fact Princess Selene and that it's up to her to stop Queen Levana. I liked the odd friendship that ended up developing between Cinder and Thorne and I liked how Scarlett's grandmother was what ended up linking Cinder's and Scarlett's stories.
I also loved the character of Wolf who could be rather shy and sweet but could also be pretty violent and ruthless as well and I really enjoyed the relationship that ended up developing between him and Scarlett through out their journey together. I really liked how we saw Prince Kai having to deal with the fallout of Cinder's escape and that it was shown that while he doesn't really know how he could possible trust Cinder at all that there are still clearly some feelings there although he does his best to ignore them for the good of the Common wealth.
I overall loved Scarlett it was two great stories and I loved how the two stories intersected with each other at the end. I loved both the returning characters and the new characters that were brought in this book. I thought this was a great sequel and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Please tell me your thoughts on this book.
