Thoughts on Game of Thrones: Two Swords(4.01)

I felt that this episode was a good start to the season even though not all the main characters appeared most of them did. I felt really bad for Sansa with how she mentioned that she lays awake at night thinking about how her mother and brother died and I found it sad that Sansa doesn't pray any longer since she has nothing left to pray for and now only goes to the godswood because it's the only place where people don't try to talk to her. I loved the scene where the man that Sansa saved from being killed on Joffrey's name day thanked her and gave her a necklace that was his mother because nothing else to give her. I loved how Sansa tried to downplay what she did because while she said that anyone would have done that same that simply isn't true since most people don't know how to play Joffrey the way Sansa does. I also love that Sansa at first felt like she couldn't take the necklace because it was all he had left of his family but once she saw how much it meant to him that he gives her something she agrees to wear it with pride.

I enjoyed the bit we see of Daenerys this episode where we find out that she's heading to another city that holds slaves to defeat them and free their slaves. I like that it's implied that Daenerys will eventually be ruling over those people for a bit rather than just defeating them and leaving like she did with the first two cities. I like how Daenerys wanted to see all the dead slaves because she wanted it to fill her with the hatred she had for their masters so she could remind herself how awful they are. I also like that it was shown briefly that as the dragons could bigger Daenerys has less control over them and they are dangerous even to her.

I enjoyed the brief scenes we got with Margery and Ollena where Ollena demand to get better jewelry for the royal wedding. I also liked Margery joke about how maybe she should let Joffrey pick out her jewels which would mean she end up with a necklace of sparrow heads and I like how Ollena reminded her to be careful of what she says even if it is just the two of them.

I am very interested in the characters Oberyn and Ellaria who are from Dorne and Oberyn is clearly interested in getting revenge against everyone with the last name Lannister for his sister's death. I'm just really interested in these characters and I can't wait to see more of them.I really enjoyed how Jamie spent the episode trying his best to get back to his old life in Kingslanding only for everyone to basically tell him he's worthless now because he lost his hand. I especially enjoyed the Jamie and Cersei scene where she got him fitted with a golden hand which he said was impractical. I find it so strange how everyone especially Cersei are made at Jamie for being held prisoner but it's something that I think fits with all the characters so I'm good with it. I also like the Jamie and Brienne scene where she wants Jamie to live up to his vows of bring Sansa to safety and how Jamie points out that he can't really do that now that her mother is dead.

I really loved Arya's scene which had her confronted with the man that killed Lommy and stole her sword. I really loved how the her killing of the man in the exact same way he did Lommy and how she clear took some joy out of this showed how Arya isn't just some badass character but a very disturbed character which I think the show seems to shy a bit a way from at least compared to the books where it's a lot clearer that she's a bit mentally unstable.
Overall great start to a season which I'm sure will also be great.

Thoughts on Game of Thrones 3.08-3.10

Second Sons(3.08): I loved how when Daenerys sees the sells swords the second sons coming to fight for Yunkai that she arranges for their to be a meeting between those in charge of the second sons so she can convince them to fight for her instead. I love how confident Daenerys was that if it came to battle she would win and that when one of the second sons captains question her abilities to take over the seven kingdoms she points out far she's come within the past year. I liked that it took some convincing and Daaraio swearing his loyalty as well as the second sons loyalty in order for him to gain the right to join her side. I liked how Margery in her conversation with Cersei was very kind, polite and seemingly cheerful which was a great contrast with how Cersei was cold and started telling the story of how the Lannisters slaughter house Castamere with the clear threat that could one day happen to house Tryell. I really enjoy the Margery-Cersei exchange because while they both somewhat see each other as enemies they handle each other very differently Margery with fake kindness and Cersei with threats of murder which only really show how threatened Cersei feels by Margery. I'm glad that Tryion is trying to do his best with not making Sansa's life any harder than it has to be with not making her sleep with him and being kind to her I still understand that this is still a horrible arrangement for Sansa. I liked that Tryion threaten to cut off Joffery's cock when he kept trying to get Tryion to take Sansa to bed, but I really don't think it was a good idea for him to yell that can of threat in front of the whole court. I liked how Ollena pointed out how screwed up the Tryell and Lannister family tree will be once all the weddings happen.

The Rains of Castamere(3.09): This episode as everyone already probably knows is the one that has the red wedding and I think it lived up to reputation of being violent and heartbreaking. I really liked that Rob admitted that he should have followed his mother's counsel last season and that he actually asks Catelyn for advice about his latest battle plan. I really liked the looks that Edmure and Catelyn exchanged in this episode while he was getting married with how she looked proud of him and that he was glad to have her approval. I enjoyed the look Catelyn had when she heard the rains of Castamere and how you could tell she knew that the chances of them getting out of there alive are slim to none because she knows the story of the house of Castamere. I found it particularly horrifying for Catelyn when she notices that Roose Bolton who she had been exchanging pleasantries with all night had known the entire time how the night would end and I liked that Catelyn told Rob to run even thought it was far to late by the time she did. I found slaughter of all Starks party to be horrific and it broke my heart and made me cry. I really loved Bran's storyline in this episode as well with how he was able to use his warg abilities on Hordor in order to make sure that they weren't heard by the wildings and Jojen tells Bran later in the episode that no one else can do that with humans. I found it sad when Bran told Rickon that he won't be coming with him to beyond the wall and Rickon tells Bran that they're meant to protect each other and their goodbye made me cry quite a bit. I also enjoyed Osha telling Meera and Jojen to keep Bran safe because he means the world to her. I also quite enjoyed Jon's storyline where he couldn't kill the man who raises horses for the nights watch so Ygritte did it for him and the rest decides that Jon's still a crow so they try to kill him and when he leaves Ygritte seems to be feeling very betrayed by him.

Mhysa(3.10): I really enjoyed the conversation between Tyrion and Tywin about how Tywin was the one that backed Walder Frey because Frey is too much of a coward to do anything like that without being backed up by someone powerful. My heart broke for Sansa even though we didn't see her find out about her mother and brother's deaths it's clear she had been told and I find this especially sad because Rob was Sansa's last hope in escaping Kings Landing. I liked that Shae told Varys that she loves Sansa and would kill for her, I just really enjoy the Sansa and Shae friendship on the show. I liked how Cersei talked about how when Joffery was a baby he was happy with her which made her happy and I liked how she said that when people say that you can tell the awful ones when they were babies is complete nonsense. I liked how Jojen mentioned that he always liked the scary stories and I liked how Bran mentioned how he use to as well and I liked the story Bran told about the man who was cursed by the gods after he killed a guest and fed him to his father. I liked that Bran, Jojen and Meera met Sam and Gilly and got them to help them get beyond the wall and I liked that it took some convincing because beyond the wall is dangerous. I liked that it seems that because of the abilities they have Bran and Jojen seem to be the only ones that might have a chance against the white walkers and such creatures. I also liked that Sam gave everyone of them some dragon glass because it can kill white walkers. I like that Stannis and his people seem to now know that the war of five kings means nothing compared to what is going on beyond the wall. I found it quite disturbing how calculated Arya's killing the man with how she played the role of a someone weak and innocent and drops the coin and then just starts stabbing him all over.

Thoughts on Game of Thrones: 3.05-3.07

Kissed by Fire(3.05)

In this episode I quite enjoyed Arya's storyline with the Brotherhood Without Banners with how when the Hound wins his battle against Lord Beric and it's decided that he is allowed to live that Arya keeps scream for his death, I find Arya's lust for vengeance to be both very interesting and disturbing part of her character. I was also interested in how the brotherhood Without Banners were able to use the lord of light's powers such as Lord Beric lighting up his sword and one of Lord Beric's men saying a pray that brought him back to life. I found the storyline with Rob punishing his men for betraying him by death to be interesting because I could understand why he found the need to punish the men but at the same time it was obvious that he should have listen to everyone else's council and  left the one lord alive because it would allow him to keep the lord's men, with all the poor choices that Robb has been making it's easy to see why things won't work out for him in the future. I really enjoyed hearing Jamie tell Brienne about the mad kings final days and why he felt that he need to kill him as well as why he never bothered to explain himself to Ned Stark. I really enjoyed seeing Shireen Stannis's daughter for the first time on the show, I really like her because she's such a sweet little girl and I love her friendship with Davos with how she doesn't care if he's a traitor and how she wants to teach him how to read. I enjoyed how Daenerys is being shown as trying to find a way to adjust her new army into free people and how her ideas of what that means kind of come in conflict with what her army views as freedom such as with Grey Worm feeling that his name is lucky because it's the name that he had when Daenerys set him free unlike his birth name which is the name he had when he became enslaved. I really loved seeing Sansa be happy and hopeful about the future in her scene with Margery and I liked the way she played Littlefinger in her scene with him but sadly Littlefinger already knew the real reason she didn't want to leave King's landing. The last scene were Tywin tells Tryion that he is to marry Sansa and Cersei that she is to marry Loras, is one of my favorite of the episode even though it upset me that some of my favorite characters were put in the position. It broke my heart for Sansa that she'll have to marry Tryion and I'm glad that Tryion pointed out that it's flat out cruel to force Sansa to marry a Lannister after all Joffery as put her through. I also felt bad for Cersei having to be forced into another marriage because it's obvious that she hated her first one and hated to be used in such a way which was why earlier in the scene she seemed to be delighted that Tryion was forced into a similar position that she had been in the past but with news of another marriage all of her previous joy had vanished.

The Climb(3.06)

I really loved seeing Bran again since I'm really enjoying his storyline this season even though he hasn't been given all that much screen time so I'm happy anytime his storyline gets screen time. I liked how Bran was able to get Osha and Meera to stop fighting and I also kind of like that Osha and Meera were fighting about hunting and skinning rabbits. I enjoyed seeing how having a vision effected Jojen and I liked that his vision relate to Jon's storyline because it helps his storyline feel connected to the rest of the show. I enjoyed seeing Theon get tortured far more than I probably should but that was mostly because the guy torturing him so clearly enjoys inflicting pain on people and always seem to love characters who are unapologetic about being evil. I actually really enjoy the relationship that is developing between Jon and Ygritte because I like the way she teases him and I like the whole they look out for each other because their just soldiers to everyone else type of thing they have going on. I loved the scene between Olenna and Tywin I loved that Olenna simple refused to bow to Tywin's threats and I also loved that Tywin just assumed she would bow to his demands since everyone else does. I enjoyed the scene between Tyrion and Cersei about who gets the worse end of the deal as well as who sent someone to kill Tryion during the battle of black water, I just really enjoy seeing these two interact. I really enjoyed the sweet awkward scene between Sansa and Loras were they talked about their upcoming wedding and I loved the scene were Sansa talks excitedly to Shae about how much better life in Highgarden while be. The scenes of Sansa being happy makes it all the more sad when Sansa is left crying at the end of the episode after she finds out that she is to marry Tryion, it just breaks my heart to see her cry and to have her  hopes crushed once again.

The Bear and the Maiden Fair(3.07)

I love how Daenerys feels the need to try to free as many slaves as she can and that she's willing to slaughter people to achieve her goals but I'm worried that her ambitions may get her into trouble later on in the series. I really love the scene where Daenerys meets with one of the leaders of Yunkai where she decides to keep their gives of gold even after she refuses the deal that was given to her and she offers the leaders of Yunkia the gift of their lives if they free all their slaves. I just really love of confidant and ruthless Daenerys is with dealing with people she sees as her enemies and I love that she refuses to compromise to achieve her goal and she's willing to kill anyone who apposes her. I really hated seeing Sansa crying and calling herself stupid because she thought that she would have a fairly happy life because I hate seeing Sansa in pain because she doesn't deserve it and I don't think it's stupid at all to hope for your life to be not awful. I'm glad that Margery was there to tell Sansa that she hoped to see Sansa happy and to make the best out of her situation because that is often what ladies of their status of to do in life and to basically try to look on the bright side of her situation. I really enjoyed seeing how much the relationship between Jamie and Brienne has developed over the season such as Jamie feeling like he owed a debt to Brienne and Brienne telling Jamie that to repay the debt he only has to return the Stark girls to their family which is something she wouldn't have trusted him to do a few episodes ago. I also love that Jamie came back for Brienne in the end and demand that she comes with him or else they'd have to kill him.
