This episode is about how a delinquent student Tomoya Okazaki ends up having a chance encounter with a shy girl named Nagisa Furukawa who he later learns had to repeat her final year of school because she was out of school for quite awhile the year before. Nagisa isn't having much luck with making new friends do to her shy nature but she does mention that she always wanted to join the drama club and Tomoya ends up convincing her to join only for her to discover that the drama club no longer exist since they're weren't enough member but Tomoya tells her not to give up on it and promises to help her get it going again.

The episode also spent a lot of time introducing us to characters such as Ryou Fujibayashi the timid class representative and her protective sister Kyou. Another character we meet is Tomoyo Sakagami who is a new transfer student who is great at fighting which is something that surprises quite a few people since she's a beautiful girl but also makes her popular with her fellow students. There is also an introduction of Tomoya's friend that is always getting into trouble and of Nagisa's parents who own a bakery, her mother is very sweet but a bit too sensitive while her father is rather brash and quite protective of his wife and daughter.

Overall I really enjoyed this episode I thought this was fairly good introduction to all the characters and I thought that the episode did a good job at showing us where all the characters are right now so that we can see how much they grow later on. I really like how Tomoya and Nagisa's characters contrast with each other which makes their interactions interesting to watch. Top 9 Books for People who like Anna and the French Kiss

1.Fruits Basket: Both are stories that are romances at heart but take a really long time for the main  couple to get together and both of those relationship starts off as friendships. The characters in both stories are well developed although I believe the ones in Fruits Basket are more developed but that series is a lot longer so they have more time to develop. Also in both stories there's the idea of home being a person present in Anna and the French.
2. Cardcaptor Sakura: I've notice that a lot of people love Anna and the French Kiss being a sweet Innocent love story and well you can't find a love story more sweet and Innocent than Cardcaptor Sakura. While Anna focuses mainly on romantic love with a dash of friendship Cardcaptor Sakura covers all forms of love first crushes, friendship, family, unrequited, and romantic.
3. Shiver: I think this books are similar due to the description in scenes were the main couple shares a bed since in both it's described in a way that just feels so intimate. I also think that both series main couple shares a really emotionally intimate relationship as well.
4.I'd Tell you I Love you but Then I'd Have to Kill you: Both series are about falling in love for the first time and are set at boarding school. I also think both of them are written with a fun narration.
5 and 6. How to be Popular and Pants on Fire: The writing style in these books are super fun and helps you to understand who the main character is really well which is the same as with Anna and the French Kiss.
7.The Darkest Powers series: Both main characters love film and want to be involve with the industry as a job some day, I'll admit this one is a bit of a stretch.
8. Clannad: In both stories the main guy helps the main girl come out of her shelf a bit and there's lots of friendship and romance in both.
9. Heist Society:There's a great main character, a swoon worthy guy, an awesome group of friends and plenty of descriptions of European cities which all seem to be things that people also loved about Anna and the French Kiss.

Top 7 Manga/Anime for people who don't read/watch Manga/Anime

1.Fruits Basket: I think this would be a good manga to start with because it's mostly a slice of life but with just one or two fantasy elements and I think the series is brilliantly written. I believe that the characters in this series are some of the best character development I've ever seen in anything.
2.Anything by Clamp: Clamp has so many wonderful series and all their art is fantastic. They cover a lot of different type of stories such as girlier titles such as the magical girl series Cardcaptor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayearth or a romantic series like Chobits. There's also series about different supernatural elements such as Xxxholic or Tokyo Babylon. There's a series about the end of the world X and I scifi series Clover then there's a series that combinds all their past work Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.
3.Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni: Is a great series for someone who likes psychological horror but they should be warned that it starts out a little slow but once it gets to the murder mystery/curse killing element of the story it gets really good.
4.Death Note: Is a really good series aimed towards boys and it's a great battle of wits that involves mass murder but be warned that the main character is an anti-hero at best.
5. Melncholy of Haruhi Suzmiya: This is a very odd but very good series about guy who is forced to join a club about looking for the existance of time travlers, aliens, and espers the club is ran by a girl who is a god but doesn't know and the other members are a time travler, an alien and an esper.
6. Neon Genesis Evangelion(Anime): This is probably one of the best known anime series of all time and for good reason it has a lot of good characters that are all emotional damaged and there's action in the form of gaint robots fighting aliens which makes this a mecha anime and this is certainly the best one I've seen of that type. It's  a great sereis and I suggest you watch in Japanese with english subtitles because the voice of the main character in the english dub is kind of annoying and a lot of people dislike the main character anyways although he's personally my favorite character.
7. Clannad:I love this series it's a slice of life/harem series with an element or two of the supernatural but other than that it's just a study of a whole bunch of different characters who are wonderful.
