Top 5 Thursday: Top 5 Whedonverse Episode

Top 5 Thursday is a meme that I create to make lists of things involving TV and movies. I would love for anyone that sees this post to make list of their own whether it's in the comment section or on their own blog.
Since I started watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this week and I'm a huge fan of Joss Whedon shows I thought that now was a good of time as any to make a list of my favorite episodes which there are a lot more than five but I'll only be mentioning five of them.
1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Becoming(2.21-2.22): The season two finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one that just got me I felt like there were high stakes both for the world in general and Buffy's emotional stakes as well. I just really loved this episode that was the conclusion to the Angelus storyline which was both action packed and emotionally draining which I think of as a good thing in this situation. My heart broke for Buffy more than once in this episode when her mom found out she was the slayer and when she had send Angel to hell once he got his soul back. I'm not sure that I'm explaining my love for this episode properly but it's pretty much my favorite episode of all time.
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Passion(2.17): This is another great Buffy season 2 episode this one is the one that shows just how cruel Angelus is it shows how Angelus saw murder as his art and how he just loved hurting people with how he elaborately laid out Jenny's body and watched through the window as Buffy and Willow received the news this cruelty and psychological torture he inflicts on everyone through out the episode is what makes him one of my favorite villains. This episode is also very sad with how it raises the stakes with Jenny's death and how it's the first episode where a character that the audience deeply cared about died, I also enjoy the fantastic monologue about passion.
3. Dollhouse: Belonging(2.04): This is probably the most disturbing episode of tv that I have ever watched and I love it for that because the concepts of this show where always somewhat disturbing but the show was never more honest about how disturbing it was then they were in this episode. The backstory of how Serria ended up in the dollhouse is both saddening and terrifying she literally just said no to a guy and he had her drugged declared insane and was taken to a place that stripped her of her identity and he could use her whenever he wanted. This episode that ended up showing not only Serria history but also her taking revenge which only led to damaging her more but on a somewhat happy note she realized that she was in love with Victor despite that not making a whole lot of sense to her since she couldn't even really remember spending time with him. This is also a great episode for Topher's development as a character with him wanting to help Serria and realizing that all this time he wasn't helping her but instead helping her get hurt and I liked how this was one the earliest episodes in which Topher starts to develop a conscious and I kind of love how it's in such a painful way and it really does start to change the way he thinks about the dolls.
4. Angel: Over the Rainbow(2.20): I honestly loved all of the episodes that were set in Lorne's world but this is the first one so I decided to put this one on the list. I really just enjoyed watching this episode and I loved meeting Fred for the first time and I loved that Cordelia was made ruler. I also loved how excited Angel was when the sun didn't set him on fire.
5. Angel: Five By Five(1.18): I overall just really loved Faith's arc in generally but this episode was probably my favorite part of it with Faith becoming increasingly violent and reckless as the episode goes on until the end when she just kind of breaks and begs Angel to kill her.

Top 5 Thursday: Top 5 Bottle Episodes

Top 5 Thursday is a meme that I create to make lists of things involving tv and movies. I would love for anyone that sees this post to make list of their own whether it's in the comment section or on their own blog.
Bottle episodes are were the whole episode takes place in basically one location and while quite a few people seem to dislike these kind of episodes I happen to love them so here's a list of five of my favorites please tell me yours as well.
1. Doctor Who: The Girl Who Waited(6.10): This is an episode that I didn't realize was technically a bottle episode until I looked up bottle episodes on TV tropes but this is actually one of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who that I've seen so it had to make it on my list. This is an episode that I find all kinds of heartbreaking with Amy becoming stuck in a different timeline for years and having to survive on her own and she became bitter towards the Doctor during that time. There's also lots of great Amy and Rory moments through out the episode some heartwarming and some heartbreaking but overall love just about everything about this episode one of my all time favorites.
2. Teen Wolf: Motel California(3.06): This episode takes place at this really creepy motel that proudly displays the number of in room suicides in the it's lobby so it comes as little surprise that this places causes a lot of odd behavior with having Scott, Isaac, Boyd and Ethan starting to hallucinate and then try to kill themselves. I really enjoyed seeing Stiles, Lydia and Alison working together stopping the werewolves from killing themselves they all worked really well together as a team. Then there was Scott's suicide attempt that was so heartbreaking with him blaming himself for things that weren't his fault and thinking that the world was better off without him and then Stiles tells him that if he's going to do this he's going to have to take him with him and I just have so many friendship feels about these two in general but this episode kind of overwhelmed me a bit. I overall really loved this episode because I do tend to enjoy watching people hallucinate in general, seeing characters I love work together and  I've always been super invested in Scott and Stiles friendship in general so this episode was kind of perfect for me.
3. Doctor Who: Midnight(4.10): This episode was extremely disturbing for what it said about human nature or rather the whole pack mentality with how in times of great stress people can be quite easily made to turn on one another in order to save themselves. I really liked how this episode turned around how effective the Doctor was at dealing with these kind of situations because normal he can always make people see his side and he brings out their heroic side but in this one it just made them suspicious of him. I overall felt like this episode left a deep impact on me and I really enjoy how much the episode made me feel even though it wasn't exactly a good feeling.
4. Teen Wolf: Night School(1.07): This is the first episode of Teen Wolf that made me realize that I actually kind of love the show not just parts of it because before this point I was just watching it because I wanted to review another show over the summer but this one made me realize how much I cared about the characters and the plot of the show in general. I loved how in the first half the episode Scott and Stiles were just trying to find the best way to escape the school without the alpha killing them and that it was just the two of them doing the best they could to survive. I also kind of like the contrast with Scott and Stiles situation to Alison, Jackson and Lydia's where they came to the school because they thought Scott invited Alison with how the three of them are at the school and have no idea what is going on and aren't clued into the supernatural stuff at this point so it's a pretty big contrast that I enjoyed watching. I really also enjoyed when all the characters actually meet up and Scott has to lie a lot about what's actually going on and I also love that this is the episode where Lydia reveals that she knows how to make a self igniting Molotov cocktail. This is also the first episode that starts the theme of someone wanting Scott to kill all his friends odd that this comes up as much as it does. I overall really loved this episode because a lot actually happens in it when I think about it even though it's in a short amount of time and in one location.
5. Community: Remedial Chaos Theory(3.03): This is an episode I really love because it shows a whole bunch of alternate timelines based off of who goes to get the pizza and I really loved seeing how different the interactions where based off of one simple event. This episode was really great and really different which is why I love it.

Fantastic Five Friday: Top 5 Holiday Episodes

Fantastic Friday is a weekly meme that's hosted by The Weekly Enthusiast
1. The OC: Chrismukk-huh?(4.07): While I loved all the Chrimukkah episodes of The OC(and really just all episodes of The OC), Chrismukk-huh? has always been my favorite. I loved the whole alternate universe concept thing with seeing how much Ryan coming to town changed things for the main character and I just found this episode to be really funny as well. I also liked how this episode was used to help Ryan say goodbye to Marissa one last time and actually be able to be open to a relationship with Taylor.
2. Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol: I really loved this episode with how The Doctor had to basically remake the story A Christmas Carol with Kazarn in order to convince him to save everyone. I also just love a lot of little moments such as the psychic paper not working when The Doctor claims to be a mature and responsible adult, or how he talks about how his bow tie is cool or that he accidentally married Marylin Monroe or that he made a bunch of snowmen after the day was save. I just really loved the new take on the old story and The Doctor being The Doctor.
3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Amends(3.10): I really loved this episode because it dealt with Angel's guilt over what he had done while he was Angelous and I really loved the heartbreaking scene between Angel and Buffy with Angel trying to kill himself and how Buffy tells him basically that live is painful but you have to keep fighting. I also liked that there was snow and that Buffy invited Faith to her house for Christmas.
4. Cardcaptor Sakura: Sakura's Wonderful Christmas:episode 35: I really love that Cardcaptor Sakura had a Christmas episode because this is my favorite anime and that is one of the reasons that this episode makes my list. I also love that this episode is set during the time period where Syaoran is really confused by his feelings because he likes both Yukito and Sakura which makes things very awkward for him. I also love that Sakura was able to have enough power to capture the firey card and I kind of loved that Tomoyo and Kero-chan decided to stalk Sakura on her sort of date with Yukito.
5. The OC: The Countdown(1.14): I'm not sure if New Years episodes count for holiday episodes but I love this episode so much I'm putting it on the list anyways. I loved the whole Ryan having hard time knowing how to respond to I love you and I really love the kiss between Ryan and Marissa at the end of the episode with him finally telling her he loves her too. I also loved that when Seth and Ryan locked in the pool house, Seth claims that he's claustrophobic and Ryan is just like this place is huge it has a kitchen and a bathroom but then Seth is just hyperventilating, I just find that scene really funny.

Fantastic Five Friday: Top 5 Pilots

Fantastic Friday is a weekly meme that's hosted by The Weekly Enthusiast

1. The OC: The pilot of The OC is one of my favorites because The OC is my favorite show and this is the episode that introduces the audience to this world and the characters which I loved and I also loved that it told a whole story but with plenty of room to develop.
2. Pushing Daisies: This episode was just as magical as the rest of the series which is a brilliant mixture of fairytale like romance, quirky crime solving and lovable but slightly damaged characters. I love this Pilot because it's just as brilliant as the rest of this wonderful series.
3. Firefly: This was a brilliant two part pilot that does a great job of introducing the audience to the whole cast and the world that they live in without ever seeming boring. This was a great episode of a great series.
4. Pretty Little Liars: This episode did a really good job of introducing the four main girls and the idea of A and I just found the pilot to be really intriguing as a whole.
5. Arrested Development: This was a great start to unusual but terrific series about a wealthy family who looses everything but try to continue as if nothing happened. I just loved meeting the Bluth family and I enjoy how odd they all are.

Top 5 Doctor Who episodes

This is part of Whovember which is taking place at Down the Rabbit Hole's blog this month.

1.The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang(5.12-5.13): This is an episode that I found really exciting because it tied the whole season together with revealing the mysteries of the Pandorica and the cracks in the universe. I also loved how this episode brought River and Rory back as well and that there was an appearance from all of the Doctor's enemies. I loved The Big Bang even more than the Pandorica Opens because I loved the whole universe collapsing in on itself and the Doctor jumping back and forth in time. I also loved all the characters and relationship moments in this episode as well. Overall I just completely loved these episodes and I think that it was the perfect way to end my favorite season of Doctor Who so far.
2. The Doctor's Wife(6.04): I loved this unusual episode that focuses on the Doctor's relationship with his TARDIS. I thought it was great fun to see the TARDIS human form and I love seeing the Doctor and the TARDIS interact and I was kind of heartbroken when the TARDIS and the Doctor had to say goodbye.
3.The Army of Ghosts/Doomsday(2.12-2.13): I loved this episode because it had quite a large scale feel to it with both the Cybermen and the Daleks being present and trying to destroy man kind. I love this episode most of all because it broke my heart when Rose and the Doctor were separated right after Rose decided that she'd rather be with the Doctor than see her family again. I overall love both of these episodes but my favorite part of it is the last few heartbreaking scenes between the Doctor and Rose.
4.The Power of Three(7.04): I loved this episode because it shows more of Amy's and Rory's regular life as well as showing how odd it is for them to go between the Doctor part of their life and normal part of their life. This episode to me was all about the characters and their relationships which made me love even more. I especially love the scene between the Doctor and Amy were he tells her he's running to her because he doesn't want her to fade from his life.
5. The Girl Who  Waited(6.10): I love this episode because I loved seeing how Amy changed after being left for 36 years and I both loved and hated the transformation with how cold and strong she had to become. I also loved this episode because it had quite a bit to do with how much Amy and Rory love each other and since they're my favorite couple that makes me happy although that also ended up making me cry towards the end as well. I also liked how this episode also showed a darker side of the Doctor as well.

Honorable Mentions: The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways, The girl in the Fireplace, The Impossible Planet/Satan's Pit, Eleventh Hour, Vincent and the Doctor, The Lodger, A Good Man Goes to War, God Complex, The Wedding of River Song, Asylum of the Daleks, and Angels Take Manhattan.

Fantastic Five Friday: Top 5 Flashback Episodes

Fantastic Friday is a weekly meme that's hosted by The Weekly Enthusiast

1. Angel: Darla(2.07): This episode gives the backstory of Darla's character with how she became a vampire and more about her relationship with Angelous. I also loved the story set in the present with Darla having to come to terms with having a soul again and there quite a few nice parallels with how she dealt with feeling the wait of her soul and how Angel dealt with it. I overall love this episode and I think it's brilliant I  love that it moves the plot forward while still providing a lot of backstory.
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Fool for Love(5.07): This episode gives Spike's backstory of how he went from a lousy poet to a badass vampire who has killed two slayers. I really loved seeing how Spike evolved and love the relationship he shares with Drusilla it's both sweet and creepy especially the moment when the two of them had sex next to the corpse of the first slayer he killed. I loved the conversation between Spike and Angelous were it's made clear that Spike just likes a good fight and Angelous sees the murders he commits as a work of art, I just really like how the shows have always made a clear distinction between the two characters styles. I also loved that Spike told Buffy one of the things no one else would be willing to tell her about being a slayer which is that all slayers are more or less death seekers.
3. Vampire Diaries: Children of the Damned(1.13): I loved this episode which explained what was going on with all the vampires in 1864 and I like that it showed that there were so many vampires that were around that were sent to burn in the church. I also liked seeing the weird relationship that Stefan/Katherine/Damon seemed to share during that time period with how Damon and Stefan are both sleeping with Katherine and they both know about it and they don't seem to be fighting at all. I also loved that this episode showed how much Damon loves Katherine and I of course just loved seeing Katherine.
4. Dollhouse: Epitaph One(1.13): I love this episode which is a flashback flashforward with how this episode is set 10 years in the future for the main characters but there's flashbacks in this episode which tells the story of how civilization fell apart with the Dollhouse technology being released.
5. White Collar: Forging Bonds(2.11): I liked that in this episode we got to see what Neal's life was like before he got arrested as well as knowing how he met Kate and Mozzie.

Honorable Mentions: Firefly:Out of Gas; Heroes: The Company Man; Vampire Diaries: Katrina, Klaus, The End of the Affair and 1912; Revenge: Legacy; Dollhouse:Target. Also episodes that didn't make the list because I don't think of them as flashback episodes are Angel: Five by Five and Dollhouse: Belonging.

Top 10 TV episodes I reviewed

I've been wanting to do a list like this since I did my top 10 books and manga I reviewed. I would like to note that I only allowed two episodes per series to make this list because I wanted the list to have some variety.

1. The Fades(1.04): This episode was just really interesting since it had the main character be pretty much dead for most of the episode but he was also kind of like a ghost so he could see everything that was going on this episode. I also really liked all the plot development with the fades that occurred in this episode and I believe that this is the first episode were we learn about who John is and I've always thought of him as a great character. I just overall really loved this episode but I feel that this episode and the next episode are pretty much tied.
2. The Fades(1.05): I love this episode because I felt like a lot of things happened in this episode and I liked that by the end of the episode pretty much everyone knows about what's going on. I also liked that there were quite a few character moments as well.
3. Vampire Diaries:1912(3.16): I loved this episode because it mostly focused on Damon and Stefan's relationship with each other in both the past and the present and it had little or nothing to do with Elena for once. I also just loved that Damon felt like Damon in this episode because I felt like for most of season 3 he was just trying to be who Elena wanted him to be but in this episode he didn't care about her opinion at all. I also found the twist at the end of the episode with Alaric to be very surprising and interesting.
4. Teen Wolf: Frenemy(2.06): I just pretty much loved this episode from start to finish and I love how the plot pretty just kept moving during this episode. I also found that there were quite a few character and relationship moments I loved as well but mostly I can just remember loving the episode as a whole.
5. Teen Wolf: Fury(2.10): I loved this episode because took place in a very small amount of time and revealed a lot about the Kanima and also why Matt wanted the swim team dead. I also thought it was kind of one of those episodes that pretty much set up the last two episodes of the season.
6. Revenge:Duress(1.11): I was just really entertained by Tyler completely loosing it and just generally acting insane. I just remember completely loving this episode but I'll admit that it's been awhile since I've seen it.
7. Vampire Diaries: Before Sunset(3.21):The second to the last episode of the season for the second season in a row is one of the best episodes in my opinion. I love this episode because it sets itself up for great season finale(although the season finale actually wasn't all that good) and it basically the plot moved forward a lot in this episode. I also really loved the scene where Klaus tries to get invited into the Gilbert house by doing things such as ripping apart of a fence and throwing them into the house or coming up to the house with a newspaper that's on fire, this scene is ridiculous but it's also my favorite scene of the season.
8. Revenge: Destiny(2.01): The season two premiere of Revenge was great with the plot still being interesting and there were plenty of scenes between Emily and Nolan which is my favorite relationship on the show to watch. I also loved that the show was able to make me believe that Victoria was dead for half an episode and I loved almost every plot this episode.
9. Grimm: Woman in Black(1.22): This was just I really good season finale and I love that it had like two or three cliffhangers because it just made that much more excited for the season 2 premiere which was great by the way.
10. Merlin: The Darkest Hour(4.01-.02): I thought it was a good story to set up the season although I find it a bit strange that show decided to skip over a whole year but I guess the show just likes to do that. I liked the overall plot of this episode and I especially loved all the interactions between Merlin and Arthur but I almost always love all their scenes together. I also loved that Merlin was able to talk to Lancelot about his magic throughout this episode because I just liked that Merlin had a friend that he could be honest with. I also liked that in this episode there were parts that showed that Morgana still had emotions and wasn't just some villain which alot of other episodes seem to have a problem portraying this.

There's a lot of other episodes I loved and reviewed and I'm not exactly sure of the order of this list so don't be surprised if my top episodes of 2012 list looks a lot different than this list.

My top 5 current TV episodes 5/7/11

                                                       Top 5 current Tv episodes
I'm sure that this list will change someday probably sometime soon but for now these are my favorite episodes. Honorable mentions go to Vampire Diaries(Masquerade, Last Day, Chirldern of the Dammened, Fool Me Once), Buffy the Vampire Slayer ( Passion, Faith, Hope, Trick, Innocence, School Hard, Out of Sight Out of Mind) The O.C.( The Model Home, The Girlfriend, The Ties That Bind, Dearly Beloved, Summer Bummer) Firefly( Serenity, Safe, Out of Gas, Trash) Psych( An Evening with Mr.Yang) Gossip Girl ( Victor, Victrola). Please share what your favorite episodes are.

1. Becoming Pt.1& Pt.2 (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 2.21-.22)

My favorite episode of anything every is Becoming it was just the perfect way to end the season2 which was already a great season but this just an extremely intense episode the stakes are high on both the world’s going to end level as well as an emotional level. I loved that episode had a sword fight in that I love a good sword fight and this was certainly a good sword fight. This was also the first episode that Willow uses magic and although her spell’s a success it really only makes the ending more bitter sweet. I personally think this episode was a great ending for season 2 as well as Buffy’s and Angel’s doomed relationship.

2. Plan B ( The Vampire Diaries, 2.06)
I love this episode so much it was so exciting and fast paced I wasn’t bored for a second during this episode and I cried twice during it. This episode everyone worked together (for I think the 1st time ever really) and in the end they were able to get a little ahead of Katherine but of course Katherine being the awesome villain she is doesn’t let that last long. I also but some sick reason really enjoyed Damon torturing Mason ( although I didn’t hate Mason or anything) I think it’s because I was worried the show would change Damon’s character too much (ie: not have him killing or hurting anyone, which just doesn’t seem to make sense). I also loved all of the scenes between Caroline and her mom and cried so much when she compelled her to forget right after her mom accepted her as a vampire. I also cried during Stefan and Elena’s break up but not as much and after all that the episode is still not done because at the end we learn that Katherine has compelled Matt to attack Tyler until he dies. This episode is just amazing, it has good emotional growth and plot twists throughout.

3. Ariel (Firefly, 1.09)
Honestly I love every episode of Firefly but for some reason Ariel is my favorite it was probably because a lot of this episode focused on Simon and River who I love. I also really liked the heist idea and although I hated Jayne for trying to turn the Tams in I liked that storyline happened it added a lot of tension to the hospital scenes. I was terrified and intrigued by the hands of blue that made people bleed out their eyes and other openings, I still wonder about them this show so shouldn’t have been canceled. I also liked the scene at the end were Mal threaten to throw Jayne out of the airlock.

4. Effy series 1 (Skins UK, 1. 08)
I love this episode it’s so weird but so awesome it’s kind of hard to describe but it’s a really screwed up episode that allows for a good amount of character growth. First off we got to learn more about Effy’s secret life as well as how close her and Tony are and it was the first time we ever heard her speak. Although this is Effy’s episode it really focused more on Tony and aloud him to grow as a character, it really was the first time that I felt bad for his character and this episode made me understand him and his relationships with Sid, Effy and Michelle better. I also loved that Sid and Cassie kissed in this episode.

5. The Heartbreaker (The O.C., 1.19)

The first Valentines day episode of The O.C. is also the best in my opinion it probably because it’s the one were Seth and Summer are on the best terms and is also the first time they had sex. All the sex talk was both awkward and hilarious and at the end when they were decided to take it slow and were dancing it was just so incredibly sweet you could just tell they were in love. I also thought that both Sandy and Kristen’s and Jimmy’s and Haley’s storylines were sweet and romantic. I liked that Ryan and Marissa didn’t just get back together in the end because they seemed like they need a break after the whole Oliver issues but while I liked Teresa in this episode I didn’t enjoy the rest of the storylines she brought later on in the season, although I loved the episode The Ties That bind.
