Top 10 Kdramas I Watched in 2017

1. W: Two Worlds: This series is one that dealt with a very creative idea with having one of our leads be a comic book character that discovers that is a fictional character and this leads to quite a few philosophical questions about what it really means to be human and it also I allowed for the plot at least whenever it was in the comic book world to be dictated by story logic rather than real world logic which was a lot of fun. The story also had a very sweet romance at the center of it and it was also a thriller that ended up having a villain that was almost completely unstoppable since he lacked an identity. This show had lots of twists and turns through out and also had characters that I loved rooting for which makes this series one that is very hard to top.
2. While You Were Sleeping: This series is one that deals with the idea of if you can see the future would you actually be able to change the future for the better and if you can't than how will you deal with that. This drama is one that I really ended up loving because of it's characters they were just so well written that I felt like they felt like real people and I really ended up adoring the lead couple because of how well they suited each other and worked together.
3. Because This is My First Life: This series was a really fun one that dealt with our leads finding themselves accidently living together and eventually deciding that getting fake married was the most logical solution to their current problems. I really loved the characters in this drama they were well fleshed out and a bit quirky and I loved seeing them and their relationship develop through out the series.
4. Dream High: This series is a heartwarming story about high schoolers pursuing their dreams to make it in the Kpop industry. This series is one that had a lot of heart to it and really loved that we focused on a group of characters rather than just one or two and I ended up loving them all and enjoying their growth as individuals as well as their relationship development. I also really loved the soundtrack for this series.
5. School 2013: This is a series that dealt with the daily struggles of high school students and teachers and I really loved how this series did such a good job of making you invested in all the characters and making you understand things differently depending on which characters point of view you were viewing the situation from. I really loved how this series was able to make everyday problems feel so high stacks because of how much they matter to the characters.
6. White Christmas: This series is a great psychological thriller and character study that asked interesting questions about humanity. I really loved the mood and atmosphere that series had and I really loved how the series constantly used the threat of violence rather than actually violence to raise the stacks in any given situation.
7. Suspicious Partner: This series was one that was a lot of fun it was romantic comedy that also had a murder mystery and legal drama aspects to it which worked pretty well together in this series. This series had good characters I really enjoyed watching and I found myself invested in it's story for the majority of the series.
8. Cheese in the Trap: This series that dealt with the college life of a girl just finishing up college was one that I found myself relating to and investing in a lot because of how well written the characters were and like School 2013 I felt that this series also did a good job of making the everyday stuff feel high stacks.
9. Witch's Romance: This is a delightful romantic comedy that had great leading characters that worked so very well together and it is honestly one of the series that I find the most fun and romantic to watch.
10. Marriage Not Dating: This series is a hilarious romantic comedy that involves fake dating and surprising amount of character depth and growth as well as being series that can be quite heartwarming at times as well.

1. City Hunter:This series is one that is a story of revenge that has a good amount of action and romance to it as well. This series is one that has a really good story behind it and good characters that make you invested in the story. I thought that this drama had good conflict between the characters that kept the story interesting through out it's run.
2. I Hear Your Voice: This series is one that is a bit hard to pin down because there are just so many aspects to it, this series is a noona romance, a legal drama and thriller with a supernatural element all at once and it feels like all the pieces of the story shouldn't fit as well together as they do. The characters are great and they all are able to go through character development through out the series as well as getting plenty of relationship development. Overall this series is one that you can't help but become emotionally invested in and that makes you forgive any of the flaws this series may have.
3. Healer: This series is an action adventure romance that has the male lead acting similarly to a superhero and a female lead working as a truth seeking reporter which are tropes we've seen before but this series makes them feel brand new. This series is one that has a very good emotional core to it with characters that you can't help but love.
4. Pinocchio: This series is another great one that deals with the morals and ethics of broadcast journalism and explores the very nature of what the truth is. 5. W: Two Worlds: This one is a series that has a concept that really stands out with having a comic book character become self aware and having the female lead sucked into the comic book and end up falling in love with him. This series is one that is filled with twists and turns and it gives the audience plenty to talk about as we explore what makes a human, human.
6. Heartless City: This dark crime story that deals with criminals and undercover cops just trying to survive is one that is extremely well made and endlessly intriguing to watch with all the characters being so very flawed. This show is one that stands out both because of it's darker tone and it's darker but still gorgeous look that the series has to it.

8. Dream High: This series is a teen drama about students at a preforming arts school working their hardest to achieve their dreams and make it in the K-pop industry. The characters in this series are all ones that I can't help but to root for and I really loved seeing them grow through out the series and I always found myself caring about them.
9. School 2013: This series is a drama that is simply about the lives of students and teachers of one class at one school and although that premise doesn't sound all that gripping the series itself is because the characters are and you find yourself completely invested in their story as the series goes on.
10. Witch's Romance: This series is about the romance between 39 year old cold hearted ultra successful reporter and a sweet 25 year old who works has a man who does any kind of part time job someone might need done, the romance in this series is unconventional but also completely heartwarming.

TV Review: Dream High

                                                            Dream High Review
Dream High is about a group of high school students at a preforming arts school that is known for having the highest number of students make their debuts on the K-pop scene after graduating from that school and them all working on achieving their dreams. Our main character Go Hye-mi is one of the few people who is trying to get into the school not because she wants to be a k-pop star but because she needs to become one in order to make money in order to pay back her father's debts and to do so she has to give up her dreams of attending Julliard and become an opera singer. While Hye-mi is very talented she is an elitist snob when it comes to music and this cause her to fail her audition and because of this she turns on her best friend Yoon Baek-hee who while less talented than her is someone who isn't a snob and is someone who actually willing to try her hardest to achieve her dream. Baek-hee becomes a rival to Hye-mi once she sees how Hye-mi turned on her and she has pretty much all of her classmates support since Hye-mi since the audition was on video for everyone to see which causes problems later on when Hye-mi is later on accepted into the school due to being one of the director's three picks of students to accept regardless of their audition.

The two other students who were picks of the director's were Jin-guk who is more a dancer and rapper than a singer and he comes across has a delinquent but he's actually a really good guy that does try to see the good in most everyone he just has a tough exterior. Jin-guk is also the illegitimate son of a father who wants to make his way in politics who refuses to acknowledge his son and wants him to get out of the country but all Jin-guk wants is to be able to have a relationship with his father. The third of the director's picks is Song Sam-dong  a kind hearted country boy who despite having no formal is quite a talent singer because he's so good at picking up on how to sing or play songs just by hearing the notes. Since Sam-dong is reluctant to leave his mom Hye-mi ends up convincing him to come to the school by telling him that she likes him because all three of the directors picks have to come to school for any of them to be allowed to come to school.

Hye-mi, Jin-guk and Sam-dong are put in the college prep class because the school doesn't really want them to succeed which also means that their not allowed to take any of the preforming arts classes. Since they aren't allowed to take the preforming classes at school they have to work on their preforming outside of school and they have to work much harder than their fellow classmates just to be allowed to take the same classes they do. Shortly after school starts Kim Pil-sook an overweight girl with a beautiful voice is demoted to the college prep class because she couldn't loose weight as fast as her teacher wanted her to so she also has to work much harder with the rest of college prep class to achieve her dreams.

The romances storylines in this series are also delightful with both Jin-guk and Sam-dong having feelings for Hye-mi during the series and Hye-mi actually ends up having feelings for both guys at different times through out the series which is pretty uncommon in K-dramas. Despite their being a bit of love triangle it isn't something that ever takes over the plot of working hard to make their come true but it does allow for plenty of sweet moments between both pairings through out the series. The other romance in the series is between Pil-sook and Jason who is the best performer in their class who Pil-sook instantly fell for and admires from a far at first. Pil-sook is convinced that Jason likes her too and given that he is especially nice to her and that wants to sing with no one but her she's probably right but it takes a long time for him to admit he likes her back because he's afraid of how much she likes him. The two of them are actually really cute together and they take almost as long as the main couple to get together and they have just as much development.

Overall I love this series I think that it's a great story with great characters and I think that series has a lot of heart which makes it heartbreaking when a character doesn't succeed and heartwarming when they do succeed. There is also a lot of great singing and dancing shown throughout the series which is to be expected. This series is one that has a great story and it's story is told with so much warmth and earnestness that you can't help but to feel for the characters at every turn. Please tell me your thoughts on the series in comments below.
