TV Review: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Well(1.08)

                                          Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Well(1.08)Review
  • I liked how even though this episode somewhat follows Thor the dark world it isn't actually necessary to have seen the movie in order to enjoy this episode since I haven't seen that movie.
  • I liked how it was mentioned that Simmons has been avoiding her parents calls recently and I liked how Fitz has noticed this.
  • I liked how both Skye and May called Thor dreamy.
  • I liked how when it was clear that Simmons was afraid of climbing up the tree that Ward distracted her by talking to her about how she loves research.
  • I found the whole idea of a Berserker staff to be interesting with how it was based off a Norse myth that turned out to be true and how it gave beings super strength by tapping into their rage and shining on a light on the darkest parts of themselves.
  • I liked how Skye insisted on how since the staff is Asgardian that means that maybe there's something magical about it but Simmons on the other hand kept insisting that it's just science that they don't understand yet.
  • I was very worried about Ward after he touched the berserker staff because the memory about his brother clearly effected him very deeply for him to have such an emotional reaction to it.
  • I disliked how Ward went off a bot on Skye, Simmons and Fitz due to the effects of the staff but I'm glad that he realized rather quickly that he shouldn't have and that his touching the staff may have compromised his ability to complete his mission.
  • I liked how the Dr. Elliot Randolph was the one that the myth of the berserker staff was actually about and I liked how he had been living on earth unnoticed for a thousand years.
  • I liked that Elliot mentioned that he had always hated the staff and that he could tell that Ward didn't like it much either.
  • I liked how when confront the group of radicals who where after the berserker staff that Ward was willing to pick up the pieces of it in order to make sure that the rest of the team was okay.
  • I liked how after Ward had tried himself out that May told him that he should let her help and then she picks up the staff and defeats the rest of the group of fanatics.
  • I liked how Simmons decided to actually answer her parents calls by the end of the episode.
  • I find it interesting that the staff didn't really effect May much in the department of painful memories because her worst memory she sees everyday.
  • I liked how Skye reminds Ward that she is there for him if he ever needs to talk and that Ward says he may take her up on that offer someday.
  • I found it really freaky that in Coulson's Tahiti dream that when he woke up he asked "Did I fall asleep?" and the lady's response was "For a little while." which is what the dolls in Dollhouse would say after they got a new personality or a personality wipe which just leads me to believe that the Coulson in this show isn't entirely himself and well he woke up from that dream like it was a nightmare which furthers my suspicions.
Please tell me your thoughts on this episode.

Movie Review: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

                                                           Catching Fire Review
The second movie of The Hunger Games series starts out sometime after the first one and from very early on Katniss(Jenifer Lawrence) is warned by President Snow that he doesn't believe her act of her and Peeta(Josh Hutcherson) being in love and if she isn't able to convince him while they're on their victory tour he'll make sure to find a way to destroy her and the people she loves. The victory tour shows Katniss and Peeta how them both surviving and more importantly Katniss herself have become a symbol of hope which is something that doesn't sit well with the capital which leads to Katniss and Peeta having to witness the deaths of people who show their support to them which is rather horrific thing to witness.

In the end Snow isn't convinced that Katniss loves Peeta so he decides to use the fact that this year is the 75th anniversary of the hunger games as an excuse to have all the victors destroyed but most importantly Katniss who is the one that has inspired rebellion in the districts. Since this hunger games is for the victors it's a whole different system with having most of the victors actually knowing each other for years and being friends which really makes them more unit against the capital especially since they're all pissed that they have to compete again.

Some of my favorite victors where Johanna Mason(Jena Malone) who is just so furious at the capital and didn't hide it for a second which was one of things that I loved most about her. There was Finnick Odair(Sam Claflin) who is so extremely charismatic and charming it's pretty much impossible to dislike him but he's also a very good fighter and caring with how he did his best to protect Mags(Lynn Cohen) even though he knew that chances where that she wouldn't survive the games. I also really loved Beetee(Jeffery Wright) and Wiress(Amanda Plummer) who won the games because of their intellect rather than physical strength.

The games in this film were much different from the first because there were a lot more working together rather than just trying to kill each other like the first one was. The deaths in this film where a lot more effective to me because most of the characters that died I actually liked and cared about so it made me cry when they died. It was also clear through out the film that the real enemies weren't the other tributes but rather Snow and the capital and I feel like this made the movies better.

The romantic subplot with Katniss and Peeta  I ended up enjoying a lot more because they were both so set on making sure that the other one survives because they feel that each other is more important then themselves. I overall really love this movie and there's a lot of other things about this movie I loved that I didn't mention in this review but I don't really know how to mention all of them. I thought that the acting and directing where great as well. Please tell me your thoughts on this movie.

Book Review: Speak

                                                              Speak Review
This book is about Melinda Sordino who is dealing with the after affects of being rape during a party last summer and she soon finds herself unable to make herself speak up as time goes by. This book covers the school year and it shows how much damage the rape has done to her psychologically with along with not being able to make herself speak up, she doesn't really feel like she can trust anyone or that anyone would even listen to her if she told them the truth so she thinks it's best that she keeps to herself and keeps quiet. It's also shown that Melinda isn't doing well in school because she really doesn't feel comfortable around people or having to communicate with them so she keeps finding herself skipping classes to avoid interacting with people.

I thought that this book was really well written with how it allowed the reader to get such a good look into Melinda's head. I also really enjoyed how her art project of having create a tree using some form of art was used through out the book to show her mental state such as how the trees she was drawing for some time looked like it was dead because Melinda felt like she was dying inside. I overall really liked this book please tell me your thoughts on it.

Top 10 Series I'd recommend to my followers

Since  I don't really know many people who read I thought that it would be best that I would use this post to recommend series to my followers since if your following me I'm guessing we at least have somewhat similar taste. Also since it seems like most book series that I'm a big fan of are pretty popular in the book blogging community this list is actually mostly manga/anime and TV since I've noticed that TV especially is looked down upon by quite a few book bloggers and since the shows I love are scripted I think that's a bit unfair since it's still a written story just told in a different way.
1. Fruits Basket: If you follow me or have just read a lot of my Top 10 Tuesday lists you're probably well aware that Fruits Basket is my favorite series of all time. I pretty much think that everyone should at least give this series a try because it's the most brilliantly written series I have ever read. This series is one that has great characters who all have layers to them and I easily became invested in pretty much all of them despite their being like twenty major characters. I really love this series because it's really just about character and relationship development which is something that is developed slowly over the course of the series and I think that series knows how make things that are often considered mundane seem interesting just simply because of character interaction which is really what makes the series so good. This series I what say has a pretty good mix of comedic and dramatic moments spread though out the series and I think this helps the tone of the series to have both because it never gets too ridicules or too depressing. I think this series is amazing and I'm sadly really bad at talking about why this series is so brilliant without talking about specific moments but I really hope you'll read it because it's worth the time and money to invest in.
2. Chihayafuru: If you have been following me for awhile you've seen that I tend to review episodes of this series a lot and I really love it. This series like Fruits Basket makes the mundane interesting by developing characters and relationships those kind of stories are my favorite the ones where not a ton happens plot wise but rather character and relationship wise. This series is about a Japanese card game called karuta and how there are all kinds of different ways to love and play karuta and there's also a lot of character relationships and development that happens around because of karuta. This series may sound odd like it would be boring or confusing but I assure it is neither.
3. Dollhouse: Over the past couple of years there have been a lot of dystopian YA novels and well they sadly have such a heavy romance focus that you don't really get to explore the dystopian aspect of it I feel like Dollhouse which in all honesty I would say is a pre-dystopian is a lot better with dealing with the concepts of a dystopia with how it's concept is somewhat disturbing and it makes you feel a bit uncomfortable like a dystopian story is suppose. There is also a bit of romance, humor and I end up loving a lot of the characters because there is one particular character arc that I love so much. This series is often one that is overlooked because most people were disappointed that it wasn't Buffy or Firefly(which are both great shows) but it was never suppose to be and I think it's a really great series overall and I'd recommend watching it.
4. The OC: This is my favorite TV show of all time and it's one of those series that I think has in someway has influenced what I look for in a series it's just one that'll always have a place in my heart. I love this series because of really it's characters I just pretty much loved everyone and I wanted them to be happy which to me is a good thing because it means you're really invested in the show. I think that this show did a really good job at balancing the importance of romantic relationships, friendships and family relationships because they all seem pretty equal important on the show in a way that I think better reflects real life then most works of fiction. I love that there was a balance of humor and drama and of the teens storylines and the adult storylines. I just love pretty much everything about this show and if you haven't watched already watch it and if you had please talk to me about it because I can never get tried of this show.
5. Cardcaptor Sakura: This series is just happy and I think it's good to have a go to series to enjoy while feeling sad and that series for me is Cardcaptor Sakura since it's the happiest series I've ever read. I love this series because it has nice characters, well developed adorable relationships, a plot that is simple but interesting and beautiful artwork. I think that Cardcaptor Sakura is a series that is super enjoyable and I think it would make you smile because it always makes me smile.
6. Teen Wolf: This is a series that pretty much everyone assumes is bad but it actually isn't, when I first saw promos for this show I thought it looked terrible but I decided to watch because I wanted to review a tv show and it was summer so I didn't have a lot of options but the show ended up surprising me and now it's one of my favorite shows. I'm actually working on a post that sort of a recommendation post/comparison to paranomral YA novels but it's taking longer than I expected. I really love most of the main characters a lot which is always a good thing but not something that always happens, I find the plots interesting and love that friendship is a pretty important part of the show as well. I'm sorry that this wasn't a very good recommendation I'll try to do better in my other post.
7. Revenge: This is a series I'm mostly recommending because there doesn't seem to be much of an online fandom for and since I'm obsessed with it I wish more people would talk about it. This series is one I love because I really love the idea of it a whole series about seeking revenge by destroying the lives of those who wronged you. I also just love the main character Emily Thorne since she is so completely ruthless in her revenge and she's very calculating and she's very complicated and she doesn't trust people(especially back in season 1 when she distrusted even people who were helping her) and she's also very good at playing the role of the sweet innocent girl next door which I found very interesting to watch. I also quite enjoy seeing just how dysfunctional the Grayson family is because they also manage to be more screwed up than I thought they could be. I overall really love this series and I would recommend obviously.
8. Wolves of Mercy Falls: This is a series that is pretty well known in the book blogging community but I feel like it's dismissed as a fluffy romance while it's true that it has a sweet romance in it, I think the series is a lot more than that. I love the character Sam because he was a supernatural creature that just wanted to be human because valued staying in his own skin and while his backstory of his parents trying to kill him when he was little saddened me also interested me because it does still effect him and is feelings about his parents are somewhat conflicted which just makes him interesting. Then there's the character Cole St.Clair who this asshole bad boy who hates himself for being an asshole bad boy but doesn't quite know how to stop hurting people so instead he invested in trying to get out and stay out of his own head which just makes for a very interesting character who is also really smart. I also really love the relationship between Cole and Isabel which Isabel describes as a form of self destruction which is something that I found really interesting about this relationship. I really loved Linger the most and I could talk about that book for hours and I think that more people should not just take this book at face value.
9. The Looking Glass Wars: Alice in Wonderland retellings tend to be popular and I think that The Looking Glass Wars was the best retelling. This retelling is one in which Alyss was from Wonderland which is real in this series but is forced to live in England and is basically thought of as crazy for quite awhile do to her knowledge of Wonderland and she eventually starts to forget about it only to have to return and save her kingdom of Wonderland. I just found this retelling really interesting and somewhat angsty in the ways I enjoy angst.
10. Secret Circle: With this one I'd recommend either the books or TV show since I happen to love both of them although they are quite different from each other. Basically I love witches and mean girls which was basically what the books were about so if your a fan of those then I'd suggest giving it a try. The TV show was also of course about witches as well but there was less mean girlness and more female friendships that had a ton of les yay in them the books also had a lot of les yay but there was still a bit of bitchy sparkle to it which is always appreciated by me. Anyways I recommend this series mostly because I love it and I don't see enough people talking about it so I hope you guys give it a try.

TV Review: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Hub(1.07)

                                          Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Hub(1.07)Review
  • I liked how this episode started off with the end of a successful mission in which the team rescues a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that had gathered information.
  • I liked how this episode mentions how the different levels that agents have keeps certain information secret because it keeps the organization safer to not  have all agents know everything.
  • I liked that when Skye asked Coulson about if the hub was a place that would have redacted files that he promised her that he would look into it for her.
  • I liked how when Coulson, May and Ward where told that the mission called for Fitz to go into the field with Ward that they all seemed at least a bit worried about it.
  • I liked that when Fitz was getting ready for the mission that Simmons was worrying about him with making sure that he had everything that he could possibly need and I liked that Fitz also told Simmons not to do anything rash when he was on mission.
  • I liked that Coulson told Ward to take care of Fitz before they left for the mission.
  • I liked how when Ward contact turned out to be dead and they where held hostage for a bit that they were able to get then help they needed because Fitz used a device to cut their power and then fixed it for them.
  • I like that Skye was really worried about the mission since she didn't know anything about it and was worried about Ward and Fitz safety.
  • I liked how Skye recruited Simmons to help her find out information about the mission and I liked how Simmons said she couldn't take part in Skye's bad girl shenanigans because she likes following the rules because it makes her feel nice.
  • I liked how Simmons handle a guy catching her doing something bad so badly with doing something that I think was suppose to be flirting but was far too awkward although she was super cute while doing it and then shooting the guy with a tranquilizer when he was going to call someone over.
  • I liked how Coulson expressed some dislike for the system saying that he preferred how they do things on the plane with everyone knowing everything but he decides that he should trust the system.
  • I liked how even when Skye had the chance to look at her file she didn't because she had a limited amount of time and she cared more about finding out about Ward and Fitz mission which turned out didn't have an extraction team.
  • I liked that when Fitz was nearly done disabling the weapon that Ward offered to take over because he figured out earlier that there wasn't an extraction and wanted to give Fitz a head start.
  • I liked that when Fitz didn't take Ward up on his offer of a head start that Ward tells him that Fitz doesn't have to prove himself to anyone and that both he and Simmons knows that he would jumped out of the plane to save Simmons if he had to.
  • I liked that Fitz then tells Ward that Coulson also told him to look after Ward and that he's not leaving because they have each other's backs.
  • I like the Coulson and the rest of his team ends up being the extraction team for Ward and Fitz.
  • I'm curious about what Coulson is hiding from Skye about her file since he only told her that she was dropped off at the orphanage by a female S.H.I.E.L.D. agent but he tells May that the truth is too horrible for her to know.
  • I'm also curious about what S.H.I.E.L.D. is trying to hide from Coulson about his own recovery file.
Please tell me your thoughts on this episode.

TV Review: Revenge: Secrecy(3.08)

                                                  Revenge: Secrecy(3.08)Review
  • I actually really like the relationship between Daniel and Sarah because they have really good chemistry and they clearly care for each other and since Emily's only using Daniel it's hard to root against them.
  • I like that Emily was able to make herself cry in order to guilt Sarah into ending her almost relationship with Daniel.
  • I liked how when Jack found out that Aiden was staying with Nolan and that he was going off to live with Emily that he was upset because he thinks of Aiden as a dangerous untrustworthy person which Aiden is.
  • I love that Nolan was setting out a bunch of sticky notes on his things that said do not break because doesn't trust Aiden enough to know not to break his things. I also really loved Nolan's list of rules for Aiden staying with him such as no killing people on the property which shows just how much Nolan doesn't trust him.
  • I liked how when Conrad saw evidence of Daniel being disloyal to Emily he didn't try to make him make any choice between women but rather he showed Daniel to a place where he could take his mistress, it's just another example of how dysfunctional the Grayson family is which is what makes them so entertaining.
  • I really don't get why Victoria keeps talking about Emily like she's a gold digger when she's clearly not because it does just make other people thinks she's crazy even though she does have good reason to distrust Emily.
  • I liked how Nolan suggested that Emily get herself a watch with this really good gps for in case her plans don't go smoothly she'll have a plan b.
  • I really love Jack's dislike of Aiden because I dislike Aiden myself and he has every reason to dislike him.
  • I found it odd that a plot where nude pictures of Charlotte where being used against her was such a minor plot that was introduced and resolved in the same episode.
  • I like how Victoria's plan to use Emily's first husband against her back fired so much with how they where actually only married so that the guy could get a green card and stay with the man he fell in love with.
  • I like that the guy that was Emily's first husband was someone who completed his revenge mission and Emily helped him get his happy ending.
  • I like that Sarah refused to get between Emily and Daniel once she see how much Victoria's plan to make Emily look bad backfires.
  • I like that Daniel wanted to end his engagement with Emily not just because of his feelings for Sarah but also because he sees how much alike Emily and Victoria are and he doesn't want to marry his mother.
  • I like that Jack told Emily that he doesn't think that Aiden is good enough for her and that he wonders how much she actually knows about the guy since he seems pretty dangerous.
  • I liked that when Emily felt like she couldn't put an ended to Daniel's and Sarah's relationship she decided to fake a pregnancy in order to insure that Daniel will marry her.
  • I was surprised and happy to see that Lydia is still alive and is willing to spill all the secrets she knows about the Graysons to Margaux.
Please tell me your thoughts about this episode.

Top 5 Thursday: Top 5 Shows that I need to Catch up On

Top 5 Thursday is a meme that I create to make lists of things involving TV and movies. I would love for anyone that sees this post to make list of their own whether it's in the comment section or on their own blog.
I've noticed recently that there are some shows that I haven't watched in a long time that I do still love that I never got around to watching again so therefore I'm super far behind on them so I thought I'd make a list of them in hopes that it will motivate me to catch up on the shows.
1. Pretty Little Liars: I really loved this show but I've only watched season 1 and the first couple episodes of season 2. I still hear and see stuff about this show all over tumblr and I really want to get caught up with the show but I never seem to do so for some reason.
2. Nashville: I really loved this show because of it's music which is so great and I thinking everyone should at least listen to the soundtrack of this show. Another thing that I love about this show is the character Juliette Barns she is my favorite character and half time she's the only thing I really care about in the episode which might not be a good thing. I don't know how I got so far behind in that I've only watched the first 15 episodes but I do plan to catch up on the show and I plan to continue to review.
3. Switched at Birth: I actually watched and reviewed the first ten episodes of this series but I didn't know when it came back and then I just never watched it because I felt like I couldn't review the episodes since they aired so long ago but I really love the show. I would really like to start watching the show again and I was wondering if you guys would be okay with me reviewing every episode.
4. Orphan Black: This is a show that I started this summer and it's a really great show that I'd recommend to anyone and it has really amazing acting and is an unusual story in that it deals with clones but does so in a way that feels realistic like it could be something that could be happening in our world and we just don't know about it. I only ended up watching like three out of ten episodes I do plan to watch the rest of them it's just that I haven't gotten around to it and since it doesn't come back until spring I haven't really felt pressured to do so.
5. Doctor Who: I only have two episodes in series 7 that I still need to watch but with the 50th anniversary coming up so soon I really want to be caught up by then so I can watch it. This is a show that I obviously still love and it's really just because it's not possible for me to watch it live that I got behind on the series in the first place so I'm sure I'll catch up soon.
