Top 10 Songs that hit the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2019

1.Breathin-Ariana Grande: This song is one of my favorites because I feel like I can sense some of the anxiety that this song seems to be about and I like how during the chorus when she sings about how she has to keep on breathing it sounds like it gets a little harder as time goes on. This song also just sounds really pretty and it really shows off what a beautiful voice that Ariana Grande has.
2.Thank u, Next- Ariana Grande: This songs seems to be one of Ariana's most personal songs where she directly sings about her past relationships and how she sees all her failed relationships as something she has learned from and she's thankful that she had those relationships. Ariana's sounds great on this song and I like that you can hear quite a bit of emotion in her voice.
3. High Hopes-Panic! at the Disco: While this isn't my favorite Panic! at the Disco song in fact it's not even my favorite off of Pray for the Wicked, even so this song is still a really good one that I enjoy listening to. This song is a little generic with how it's just about having high hopes and succeeding on fulfilling your dreams which is less interesting than most Panic songs which are lyrically a lot more interesting. The song is a happy sounding one that has great instrumentation and vocal performances throughout and the song is filled with energy that makes you want to sing along to it whenever you hear it.
4.Without Me-Halsey: This song is about how after a relationship ends Halsey feels like her lover shouldn't be able to live without her so easily since she met him at his lowest and built him up only for the relationship to end after he turns his life around. I really like Halsey as a singer and like her more alternative pop style which she uses on most of her songs including this one.
5.Trip-Ella Mai: This is a really sweet R&B love song that just sounds really pretty it has good production and Ella Mai has a beautiful voice. This song it one that feels both romantic and relaxing which makes for an enjoyable listening experience.
6.Close to Me-Ellie Goulding and Diplo feat. Swae lee: This song is a love song about wanting be close to just one person and I enjoy that we get to hear a bit from both sides of the relationship. I really love Ellie Goulding's voice it sounds really beautiful and I think that production compliments it and I like the contrast that Swae Lee's voice provides on his verse which is something that took me awhile to warm up to.
7.Sweet but Psycho-Ava Max: This song is about a girl who is sweet but a psycho and it describes how she's a bit dangerous but that's kind of the appeal, for some reasons songs like this are ones that I just always end up catching my interest. I like how the songs sounds upbeat while describing a relationship with a girl that clearly isn't a lot of fun.
8.Love Lies-Khalid and Normani: This is a song about two lovers who are trying to figure out where they stand with each other and this song as a really great romantic atmosphere that really makes the song for me. One of my favorite things about this song is that it's a duet which really makes the song work for me.
9.Ruin My Life-Zara Larsson: This song is one that I find to be really catchy even if I do thing that it can be a repetitive which keeps me from completely loving this song. I kind of like how this song is about how she wants the object of her affection to ruin her life because she's just so into him.
10. Speechless-Dan + Shay: While I'm usually not that big of a fan of country music this was a song that just grew on me the more that I heard it because it was just so sweet. The song is about how this guy finds himself speechless while looking at the woman he's been in relationship with for years now and that concept combined with how love-struck the singer sounds really makes the song for me.

Book Review: The List

                                                            The List Review

The List is about how at a high school each year during homecoming week a list of the prettiest and ugliest girls in each grade is posted and this book is about the eight girls who are on the list and how they deal with it for the first week of list being out. The characters we follow are Abby a ninth grader who is named prettiest who is very happy to be named the prettiest girl in her grade since she takes great pride in her appearance and makes her feel less bad about how she isn't very book smart unlike the rest of her family. The ninth grade who was named the ugliest girl in the grade is named Danielle who is on the swim team and has a boyfriend who she had a pretty good relationship until the list came out called her a boy, she tries to ignore the list the best she can but it's hard when everyone around her won't stop talking about it and her boyfriend won't stand up for her. The sophomore girl who was named the prettiest is Lauren a girl who was homeschooled all her life before this year and she is happy that being on the list has led to girls approaching her and becoming friends with her since they previously ignored her. Candace the tenth grade girl that was named the ugliest in her grade was named the ugliest because she has an ugly personality rather than appearance which leads to her friends pulling away from her.

The eleventh grader that was named the prettiest is Bridget who developed an eating disorder over the summer and is trying to get rid of it before she saw the list now she feels the need to keep loosing wait to live up to her new title. The junior who was named the ugliest is Sarah a girl who doesn't want to fit in with what other people at her school and wants to make a statement with her position that she was given in order to make the student body uncomfortable. The senior girl who was named the prettiest is Margo who was named the prettiest girl during her freshmen year as well and her two best friends and sister have also been on the list in years past. The senior girl that was named ugliest is Jennifer who has been named the ugliest girl in her grade every single year of high school which leads to Margo's friends taking pity on her and being friendly towards her which makes things awkward for Margo since she and Jennifer were best friends in middle school. As the week goes on Margo thinks back on the reasons why she ended her friendship with Jennifer in the first place and is made to feel like a bad guy when she doesn't welcome Jennifer into her new friend girl meanwhile Jennifer hopes that she can prove that she does belong in Margo's new friend group.

Overall I liked the book it had an interesting idea and did a good job of developing all the main characters despite the story taking place over a very short amount of time. The one thing that I didn't like about the book was that I felt like many of the characters story was left unfinished which makes me want to know what happens next and I know that I will never find out since the story is only meant to be about this one week in the characters lives. Book Review: Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus

                                                  The Blood of Olympus Review

The Blood of Olympus is the final book in the Heroes of Olympus series and in this book they are trying to prevent Gaea from rising even though at this point it seems that Gaea awakening is inevitable. On their journey they have to capture Nike the goddess of victory and find the physician's cure which can cure even death which is something they believe that they would need because one of them is prophesied to die in the final battle with Gaea. Leo believes that the one who will die should be him so he comes up with his own schemes on how the final battle should go because he doesn't want his friends to worry about him or put themselves in danger for him.

Through out the book Nico along with Reyna and Coach Hedge is using shadow travel in order to bring the Athena Parthenos  to Camp Half-blood in order to prevent a war from breaking out between the Greek and Roman half bloods. On the journey we get to learn more about both Nico and Reyna with us seeing just how far Nico pushes himself to finish his mission even at the expense of his own well being and that he believes that others don't want him around so he pushes them away. Reyna we learn that her family has a history of being warriors and being supported by Belladonna and how her and her sister ended up on their own and how they got to where they both ended up. Nico and Reyna end up developing a friendship with each other through out the book that I really ended up enjoying as well.

In other plots in this book includes Jason deciding that he will go between the two camps and build shrines to all the minor gods and goddess in hopes of preventing future wars and because he feels like his place is at both camps. Piper also learns to trust her feelings in order to use her powers better as a daughter of Aphrodite and she and Annabeth bound out on a mission together and the two of them become very close friends. Leo is also still making plans to get back to Calypso's island and take her away from there as well.

Overall I really loved this book it was mostly about finding away to stop Gaea because this is the final book of the series but it also allowed plenty of time for character growth as well which I really enjoyed. I especially enjoyed that we got chapters from Nico and Reyna's point of view and we were given more insights into their characters. Book Review: Dark Places

                                                            Dark Places Review

Dark Places is about Libby Day whose sisters and mother were murdered by her older brother when she was seven years old, it's been twenty five years since the murders happened and she has been living off the money that was raised for her by concerned citizens after the story of the murders were publicized and said to be motivated by her brother being Satan worshiper. The money from the fund that Libby has been living off is about to run out and since she's never had a real job and can't imagine herself being able to have a real job since most days she has trouble finding the motivation to get out of bed let alone to do anything productive with her life, Libby agrees to talk to members of a Kill Club about the day of the murders for money. The Kill Club is a group of people who are fascinated by true crime stories and in case of the Day family murders it turns out that every member of the club that is fascinated by that crime doesn't believe that Libby's brother Ben is actually the killer.

After being presented with new facts about the night of the murders and the investigation that occurred afterwards Libby is forced to consider that maybe her brother isn't the one that killed her family after she recalls that she actually didn't see anything that happened she just heard it and thinking back she isn't even sure if the voice she heard was her brother's. Libby doesn't want to get her hopes up about her brother Ben not being the monster she has seen him as for the last twenty five years starts to reluctantly look into her brother's case while getting paid for it by the Kill Club. This book is about Libby investigating who killed her family and there are point of view chapters set in the past told from her mother's and brother's point of view about what really happened on the day of the murders.

This book was really good it did a good job of making a story about a murder that happened twenty five years before the story even begin still feel tense since the story was never about what was going to happen but who was going to do it and what led them to that point. 1. A Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue: This book is one that I only just heard about recently and since it sounded really interesting I bought it and I'm planning on reading it soon.
2. Fallout: This book is the third and final book in the Crank trilogy and since I finished the second book of that series recently this has now been added to my to read list.
3. The Hidden Oracle: This is a book I wasn't sure if I wanted to read or not but after finishing the last book of the Heroes of Olympus I realized that I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the Percy Jackson and Olympians universe yet.
4. People Like Us: I got this book for Christmas and it sounds pretty good so I'm putting it on my to read list.
5. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo: This book is one that I've recently been hearing that it's really good and since I remember that book sounding interesting when I read the plot description so I really want to read this book now.
6. P.S. I Like You: This book is one I got for Christmas and it sounds like it will be a cute and fun read so I've put it on my to read list once I got it.
7. Lucky in Love: Another book that seems like it will be cute and fun that I recently got and therefore put on my to read list.
8. Luxe: This book sounded really interesting so I got it recently and now it's on my to read list.
9. Asylum: This is a book that I recently got because it sounded interesting and it's title drew me in right away so it's on my to be read list.
10. The Light Between Worlds: This is one that I heard about recently that deals with the main characters dealing with the aftermath of coming back home after living in a magical world to find that things are the same there as when they left, this idea sounds super interesting to me so I really want to read it.

Top 10 Kdramas I Watched in 2018

1. I'm Not a Robot: This series about a guy who has developed a psychosomatic allergy to other humans ends up investing in an extremely life-like robot in order to experience companionship but the robot ends up breaking before he gets to test it out so the girl who the robot is based on has to pretend to be a robot. Our two main characters end up becoming friends under these strange circumstances first and later fall in love with each other it's a very sweet and cute series but there are times when this series can be surprisingly sad as well.

2. Just Between Lovers: In this series our two leads were connected to each other because they were trapped together during a collapse of a shopping mall both our main characters are still dealing with PTSD related to that day although it presents itself in very different ways. Our two main characters end up falling in love and finding ways to over come their trauma together in ways that feel realistic but also optimistic.

3. Solomon's Perjury: This series is about a group of high schoolers who decided to investigate whether or not one of their fellow students killed themselves or if they were murdered, they decide to put on a trial in order to find the truth once it becomes clear that the school doesn't want to look further into the matter. This series does a good job of setting up the mystery and also showing us the many different sides to the important characters in the case which made this a great watch.

4. School 2017: This series that deals with the various issues of various students in one grade at one high school is one that I loved. I thought that most of the characters that were focused on were interesting and had good stories to be told and I liked seeing the various relationships that the students had with each other as well.

5. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo: This show centers around a female weightlifter who is trying to succeed in her dreams of become the best weightlifter but also wants to date and finds it hard reconcile those two parts of herself. I really loved the friends to lovers storyline that the two leads had which was very sweet and allowed the female lead to stay true to herself.

6. Hymn of Death: This drama was both beautifully and tragically romantic with this based on true events forbidden love story that you knew from the start would end in tragedy. The main characters were sympathetic despite the fact that they're relationship with each other is one that is frowned upon by most.

7. Fight My Way: This show was a really fun rom-com about two friends falling in love with each other after years of friendship and failed relationships with other people. This show along with being a good fun romance series also was about people going out and working on achieving their dreams even if it seems impossible for them since making money is more important than getting the job they actually like or if they feel like they're too far behind everyone else that are applying for the jobs they want because they either gave up on their dreams or couldn't afford to work unpaid internships, this aspect of the series was one that was really easy to relate to.

8. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?: This was a very fun and sweet romance between a very talented secretary and her CEO boss where he did most of the chasing in the early part their relationship which was delightful to watch. I really liked how the characters end up having to figure out how their relationship would have to change once they started dating so that there wasn't too big of a power imbalance in their relationship as lovers. I had some issues with some things regarding a traumatic backstory but overall these issues didn't take much away from how much I loved this series as a whole.

9. Oh My Ghost:  This series was a fun and spooky romantic comedy about a girl who can see ghosts being possessed by a ghost who needs to have sex in order move onto the afterlife and she sets her sights on the other girl's crush/boss to be the one that she does it with. The series has an unconventional premise which makes the series fun and it also gives two female leads who end up working together to achieve what they want in a way that you wouldn't expect. This series can also get a bit dark at times when dealing with how one of are main girls died in the past.

10. The Innocent Man: This series is one that involves a lot of the main characters manipulating each other and playing mind games in order to get what they want which is something I always find is great fun to watch. I also really liked that this story is about revenge and that there is a relationship that starts out based on achieving that goal but then becomes genuine over time. I found that series had a little to much drama involving medical conditions in it's second half but overall really loved this series.

TV Review: The Innocent Man

                                                         The Innocent Man Review

The Innocent Man is about Kang Ma ru a promising young med student who grew up in poverty who ended up taking the fall for a murder that his girlfriend Han Jae hee committed in self defense because she told him that she couldn't bare to go back to the gutter after making herself into a successful reporter. Ma ru goes to prison in Jae hee's place assuming that she would wait for him and continue her career as a reporter but it turns out that Jae hee stops being a reporter soon after the murder and instead marries a CEO who is much older than her and has a child with the man. Years later after Ma ru has been out of prison for some time discovers that Jae hee not only didn't wait for him but has also stopped being a reporter decides that he will take his revenge on Jae hee by bring her back down to his level.

Ma ru decides that the best way to get under Jae hee's skin is to start a relationship with Jae hee's step daughter Seo Eun Gi who is around the same age as Ma ru and Jae hee so it's unsurprising that Eun gi doesn't like that her father left her mother for Jae hee. Eun gi is ambitious, cold and has a temper which are traits that can both help and hurt her while working in her father's company, she wishes to be the CEO once her father steps down but her father would rather her younger brother(who is currently only five) be the one that takes over for him since he believes that men make better leaders. Eun gi has a lot of resentment towards Jae hee even before she meets Ma ru which is why she agrees to date him even after it becomes clear that he has ulterior motives for why he approached her in the first place.

Eun gi eventually begins to fall for Ma ru as he starts to notice her hidden softer side which is something he uses to win her affections in order to get closer to her in order to mess with Jae hee but Eun gi's softer side also leads to Ma ru developing some feelings of his own that he won't admit to having. About halfway through the series a lot of dramatic things happen all at once there's some character death, injuries and a time jump which leads to the second half of the series mainly dealing with the fall out of what happens midway through the show.

Overall I really enjoyed this show, the story was one that was driven by revenge and filled with manipulation which is something that I find to be very enjoyable in a story even it did get a little too dramatic at times. I thought that the main characters were very well written and acted, I liked that the characters were more intriguing than likable for the most part.
